Stepping Into The Light

Image
It's day 273 of documenting 2025. 92 days to 2026! The countdown feels like it's a long way away... But not really. By a wide stretch, it's 3 months. Day by day, it feels far away. Well, I think I'm off to an early start on today's post. It's 5:49pm now...and I'm at the house for the home-tutoring session. I was thinking of checking WhatsApp for messages, but just thought, "Why don't I just get started on this post?" Here we are! 😊 Good news is, there's no school tomorrow. It's Nigeria's Independence Day tomorrow....and as a result, public holiday. Baby girl is free tomorrow! 😁 As for my plans, I may just do some laundry and probably visit my friend, Dora. But I make my own plans, and God may not allow it that way...for His own plan to work. Won't think too much about it tho. Anyways, how was today? Not bad at all. I was able to teach a class using the school's computer system. I was internally amused to see t...

Meeting Aisha In Person

Image
It's day 272 of documenting 2025. 93 days to 2026! Happy New Week! As I used to say, "Another set of opportunities." Before we dive into today's post...highlights and all, I would like to give an update on yesterday's outing, like I promised. Then we can do the usual section. Sounds like a plan! So, yesterday went thus: My friend and I met at the bus stop and we hugged each other as we exclaimed, "Oh my God! It's been a while!" She actually commented that I was taller than last time. (Me? tall?...doesn't feel that way!) We don't know any hangout spots in the area, so we just sat in front of an empty shop. Yep....we sat outside! Another friend pointed out that we should have scouted the area to know where we could stay inside, get drinks...and talk. I was like, "maybe next time". What matters was that we saw each other again...after 6 years! And talk we did! We chatted about everything and anything that came to mind. Abou...

Sunday, Outing and Schedules

Image
It's day 271 of documenting 2025. 94 days to 2026! Very soon, we'll be saying, "24 days to 2026". The days are going by... Happy Sunday 😊  I'm typing in the morning...10:15am to be precise. Few minutes ago, I finished up a little laundry that I needed to do. It's a new week afterall...and I know I won't have time for them because of my schedule. After I'm done here, I'll be getting ready for an outing. I'll be meeting an old friend of mine, Aisha. I reconnected with her a couple of months back...and I wrote a post about it on this blog. You can check it out. Head to the main site, Documenting 2025. There's a search bar at the top of the page, so you can search for "Reconnecting With Aisha". I'm pretty sure it's among the popular posts below this blog 🤔  It's been 6 years since we last saw each other and she's done with school, like most of our highschool classmates. I'm just preparing to get into...

New Screen, More Caution

It's day 270 of documenting 2025. 95 days to 2026! It's the weekend! And my Saturday is almost over... #Latenightpost  Few hours ago, I made dinner. Twas quite exhausting but the soup tasted great! Just wanted to start with that.... And this as well  (because we're still on Behind The Scenes)... I was awake for the most part of last night...watching YouTube. This time, I wasn't doomscrolling. I was watching a video of Erika Kirk, speaking at her husband's memorial service. What fascinated me the most was the fact that I never really heard of the late Charlie Kirk until after the news that he was assassinated this month. At first, I was like... "Who is this guy and why is everyone talking about his murder?" After my YouTube research, I understood a lot more about living for Christ, till you leave this world. And what made me satisfied was the fact that what Charlie started when he was 18 years old would live on, even after his passing. What was ...

Still In The Mega City

It's day 269 of documenting 2025. 96 days to 2026! Today's a Friday...and I'm feeling okay 😄 I closed early at the school, so that's good. It's 3:53pm....pretty early to type a post. Let's get this show on the road! First off, the highlights for today... And then we take a segue into my thoughts and life updates. (Yeah...just found out the word "segue"....means transition.) 365 Days With Self-discipline  📌 On Stretching "The benefits of stretching are enormous. Stretching can increase your strength by 10%. It is a lot.  The man [Russian Master of Sports Alexander Faleev] explains that “when you lift a weight your muscles contract.  And after the workout the muscles remain contracted for some time. The following restoration of the muscles’ length is what recovery is.  Until the muscle has restored its length, it has not recovered.  Hence he who does not stretch his muscles slows down the recuperation process and retards his gains.”  ...

Truly Astonished

It's day 268 of documenting 2025. 97 days to 2026! Well, my bad... It's another late night post. But the streak is still alive 🔥 Can I start with how my day went? Maybe... You know what? Let's do Highlights first. I can blab out all my thoughts then. From what I see, I have to share the whole note for today. The author (Martin Meadows) used a lot of "I". See what I mean... 365 Days With Self-discipline  📌 On Taking Ownership for Your Ideas "Regardless of what we create — a toy box, a new source of electricity, a new mathematical theorem — much of what really matters to us is that it is our creation.  As long as we create it, we tend to feel rather certain that it’s more useful and important than similar ideas that other people come up with." Quote by Dan Ariely When people create something themselves — say, a birthday card for a friend — they value it more than something created by somebody else. Similarly, people take ownership of their id...

When I Fall (The Song)

It's day 267 of documenting 2025. 98 days to 2026! Well, it's another late night post. Today, there's no excuse. It was totally on me. Let's get the show on the road, shall we? First it's Highlights and after that, I can share my thoughts and a story about something that happened behind the scenes. (Sounds good! 👍🏼 ) 365 Days With Self-discipline  📌 On Self-Monitoring "The more carefully and frequently you monitor yourself, the better you’ll control yourself." Quote by Roy Baumeister People who monitor their weight regularly have a higher chance of maintaining weight loss permanently. People monitoring their output at work have a higher chance of remaining productive in the long run. People who monitor the hours when they go to sleep and wake up are more likely to become permanent early risers. Self-monitoring is a crucial tool to help you keep track of your results and then, upon achieving your goal, maintaining them forever.  How often d...

A Teacher And A Crush

It's day 266 of documenting 2025. 99 days to 2026... What a day I had! So yeah...I didn't even have a chance to type today's post. Until now, by 7:59PM. Well, I signed up for it...so might as well adjust my schedule. Speaking of schedule, it's like... ultimately defined now. Early morning, wake up and write. Morning, walk about and teach. Break time, socials and scripture verses. Afternoon till evening, teach some more Night, complete the activities I couldn't do in the morning and afternoon. Then I'm off to bed. But I'm getting used to it....because I know it won't be long before I have to travel. Guess that shows how adaptable I can be, right?  Anyways... Let me share a story, something that happened behind the scenes. I didn't actually mention it in this blog, so I can start from there. In one sentence, a middle-aged teacher had a crush on me.  And now the details... It was during the time I was preparing for JAMB...the exam that quali...

The Countdown Begins! ⏳

Image
It's day 265 of documenting 2025. The countdown begins ⏳  100 days to 2026! In exactly 100 days from today, we will be welcoming a new year. Oh my! Gives me goosebumps! Okay, so right about now...I don't know what to think of writing about. I said I would start the "Behind The Scenes" series, but I don't have the events I want to recount in my memory now. I have them in writing tho... And I would tell the stories better if I was with my journal. I'm not with it now 😐 But as they say, The show must go on. That being said, I might as well start with how my day went. Monday. Today was full of walking around, taking classes and spending a lot of energy. If not for the breakfast I had in the morning, I would have ended up with a terrible headache or worse...I would have collapsed. What kept me going? God's strength 💪🏼 I woke up early this morning, around 2am...after going to bed by 11pm. Not much hours of sleep 💤  But the three hour I spent wi...

One Day To The Countdown!

Image
It's day 264 of documenting 2025. Happy Sunday, my friend 😊  I wish you a wonderful week ahead  I decided to type early today...and break the streak of late night typing. It's 10:59AM. So, what would I start with? Not actually clear... 🤔  Maybe my anticipations of the new week...or how the previous week went. I'll pick the latter. We're moving forward, not back. That being said, let's look at today's Highlights first and then I'll share my thoughts afterwards. 365 Days With Self-discipline  📌 On Being Honest With Yourself About Your Feelings "Always be honest with yourself about how you are feeling, no matter what kinds of emotions might be building up inside of you. Pretending to ourselves that we are not feeling something does not make that emotion disappear." Quote by Nigel Cumberland Pretending to yourself that you aren’t feeling a temptation to cheat on your diet, waste time instead of working, or vent your anger on somebody els...

Saturday Musings

Image
It's day 263 of documenting 2025. #Latepost And I could have prevented this... I think it was after I published yesterday's post that I came up with an idea for this post. Then I was like, "meh...I could do it tomorrow". Here we are! My Saturday morning was quite busy, with an early start to write a particular letter...and then some laundry. I also washed my footwear for next week, as well as the new-ish bag I would be using. Can't wait to rock it on Monday 😁 Then laundry was done... I remembered the home-tutoring session I had and prepared for it immediately. Towards the end of the session, I was given a little "bonus". My expenses for next week, miraculously taken care of! Thank God for His provision 🙏🏼 Went back home....chatted with a few friends and then made lunch for my siblings. After lunch, I had to walk all the way to my dad's shop to get what I would use to make dinner. The walk was okay tho....it was needed workout for my le...

Letters On A Friday

Image
It's day 262 of documenting 2025. Happy Friday my friend! It's a not-so-late post today... Or maybe it is. Is typing by 8:43pm too late? 🤔  Anyways, I'm officially a teacher now...even if it's for a short time. Now, I can enjoy my weekend. No waking up early (except for my writing project). So first, I'll talk on how my day went...as well as a few thoughts. Then we'll see today's highlights and conclude today's post. Sounds like a plan! 😄 Friday was an early close at school....and I rushed home because for some girl business... (Came earlier than expected) Anyways, I went out to run some errands, came back, engaged on X and then fell asleep moments after. Did I mention that we didn't have light for the past two days? I don't think I did 🤔  I guess it's because I was able to charge my power bank at my pupil's house during the outage period. I later went to her house to teach her (home-tutoring session). It was after the sess...
