The First Seed

It's day 207 of documenting 2025. I got big news last night! 😀 My school of choice, UNIZIK will start the registration for this year's screening exercise. By Monday! Very soon, I'll be on my way to my hometown...for good. Yeah, I said it! My dad made it clear that if we (me and my brother) were to travel for the admission process, it would be for good. We won't come back to Lagos again. Well, that's the update... Monday...registration starts. And soon...I'll be on my way to school. Sometimes, I wonder how things will unfold...but I know everything will turn out fine. For me....and for you. It's time for Highlights now. After which I may share a conversation, or a story. Anyone that comes to mind...or appears more convenient. 365 Days With Self-discipline  📌 On Enthusiasm and Endurance "Enthusiasm is common. Endurance is rare." Quote by Angela Duckworth In a perfect world, everyone who is pursuing their goals would be an endless source of enthu...

On Maintaining Composure

It's day 203 of documenting 2025. What a day!  It was quite tiring at school...but I got all my work done. And I have the day off tomorrow...as well as the whole school. It's to allow everyone get ready for the party on Thursday. I'm going to probably sleep late tonight and work on a few projects...or study. Then sleep in and enjoy my day off. And finally get ready for the D-day...when I'll be the busiest I can ever be on the job. It's the last week, so I can handle it. Let's get into Highlights for today....and then I'll share a story from the ongoing series behind the scenes.... Ursula's story. 365 Days With Self-discipline  📌 On Maintaining Composure "Those who have accomplished the greatest results are those who never lose self-control, but are always calm, self-possessed, patient, and polite." Quote by Ryan Holiday Today's Highlights is going to be packed... because I shared the whole note. If I just picked out parts of it, you may ...

The Cruel Mirror

It's day 199 of documenting 2025. One more day to the big 200! Super psyched! 😃 I don't even know what I'm going to write...or how special it's going to be... But it's going to be great. Wow! It's going to be on a Saturday! And I've got quite a number of plans and tasks.... Hmm 🤔  Maybe I can type it tonight and schedule it for tomorrow. It has to be a special post...staying consistent for 200 days is not an easy feat. Trust me, there's a story to tell. No need to worry about that now... Let's focus on today's post, which is going out by nighttime. My mornings and afternoons are very occupied these days...there's no time to type then. So it's only convenient to shift the posting to evenings/nights. Anyhoo... Today went well 🙂 I was able to finish recording all the scores for two classes, excluding two subjects taught by the same teacher. Guess what? The teacher didn't show up today. So, my record isn't complete yet. Asides that...

Motivation Ain't Permanent!

It's day 196 of documenting 2025. Although I was pretty sleepy today, I managed to finish marking the exam papers for the senior class. C'est fini! 😁 I still have the exam papers for the junior class tho...but they're just two classes and one subject. Tres magnifique! (You're probably thinking, "she losing it again 😒) It's just teacher stuff... Now I understand how teachers feel when their work of grading and recording is done...or almost done. Whew! Besides that, today was pretty great. I went to see a friend at her house...and it turns out, her grandma celebrated her birthday today. I couldn't help but kneel in front of the woman as I wished her well. I wonder how she feels about the many years she has lived. I couldn't ask tho...the visit was a short one. I'm home now... Thinking out loud by 8:32pm and still wondering what style I would choose for the school party outfit. The school's party is around the corner...and we teachers got the mat...

Meeting Memento Mori...

It's day 193 of documenting 2025. Well, it's nighttime already. And it's pretty chilly 🥶 But I like it. I've never really shunned the cold... except maybe when I'm down with an illness. Growing up, I described myself as someone with a ' thick skin ' because I don't feel cold easily. I prefer that to the heat. Enough of my temperature preferences... Let's do Highlights and then I'll share a story that really says something. It's still our favorite character, Ursula...and this time, she meets Memento Mori. 365 Days With Self-discipline  📌 On Becoming a New Person  "If you want to be a new man you have to stay in new places, and do new things, with people who never knew you before.  If you go back to the same old ways, what else can you be but the same old person?" Quote by Joe Abercrombie Changing yourself doesn’t necessarily mean throwing away your old life, cutting ties with your family and friends and moving to another corner of...

The Hallway (Ursula's Story)

It's day 191 of documenting 2025. What a day! 😮‍💨 It was draining, moving from one class to another, sitting in one spot marking exam papers and repeating the same process again. I got home by evening time and soon enough, passed out on the bed. It seems evenings/ nights are more convenient for me to publish the blog posts. Right now, it's 8:15pm as I'm typing this. Doesn't matter tho....cos you're reading it now. Let's get into Highlights first...and then I'll share a fiction story of the rising character, Ursula. 365 Days With Self-discipline  📌 On Futile Determination  "If any man is able to convince me and show me that I do not think or act right, I will gladly change; for I seek the truth by which no man was ever injured.  But he is injured who abides in his error and ignorance." Quote by Marcus Aurelius (You probably know who this guy is...) Determination can change your life, but it can also lead to a lot of wasted time if you stubbornly...

Getting Used To The Silence

It's day 186 of documenting 2025. Happy Weekend from this little corner of the internet 💜 I hope your week went well, my friend ☺️  If it didn't, just remember one thing. It could have been worse...but it wasn't. Something to be grateful for. We're hopping into Highlights as usual...and then we move to another fiction story. Same character as last time. PS. By last time, I mean the first fiction story I shared on this blog. Read it here. 365 Days With Self-discipline  📌 On Simple Rules  "Simple rules are shortcut strategies that save time and effort by focusing our attention and simplifying the way we process information.  The rules aren’t universal — they’re tailored to the particular situation and the person using them." Quote by Donald Sull Simple rules, huh? 🤔 Another new one... In today’s world, we have too many choices to make. Many of those choices are trivial, but because we don’t want to miss out, we waste precious time deciding where we want to g...

Ursula's Transformation Story

It's day 183 of documenting 2025. No power! 😭 This outage is getting to everyone...and it's getting worse. I couldn't charge my device and the power bank is on its last legs. Word is, the problem started when two officials were beaten because they came for bill payment verification. That's enough to piss them off. Well, I'm not sure if the story is true. I'm just hoping the issue gets resolved, whatever it may be.  Anyways, life goes on. I may consider leaving my phone at home instead of bringing it to school. That way, I can save the battery. But there's a problem. We usually use my phone to play the song for the cultural dance presentation in my school. I wonder how I can navigate that 😐 Don't worry, I'll figure it out. Time for highlights...and then a fictional story. The first of it's kind on this blog. 365 Days With Self-discipline  📌 On Shocking Your Body “Your body needs to be shocked to become resilient,” Eric explained. Follow the sa...
