Sunday, Outing and Schedules

It's day 271 of documenting 2025.
94 days to 2026!

Very soon, we'll be saying,
"24 days to 2026".
The days are going by...
Happy Sunday 😊

I'm typing in the morning...10:15am to be precise.
Few minutes ago, I finished up a little laundry that I needed to do.
It's a new week afterall...and I know I won't have time for them because of my schedule.

After I'm done here, I'll be getting ready for an outing.
I'll be meeting an old friend of mine, Aisha.
I reconnected with her a couple of months back...and I wrote a post about it on this blog.

You can check it out.
Head to the main site, Documenting 2025.
There's a search bar at the top of the page, so you can search for "Reconnecting With Aisha".
I'm pretty sure it's among the popular posts below this blog 🤔

It's been 6 years since we last saw each other and she's done with school, like most of our highschool classmates.
I'm just preparing to get into school, but that doesn't bother me one bit.
Everyone's journey is different.

The weather is looking pretty gloomy tho...
I already asked God to let the weather be favourable for our meetup.
I hope it goes well 😌

Can I tell you something?
It's a little embarrassing to admit...but whatever.
The thing is, I don't go out much...so I'm not conversant with the roads.
This would actually be my first time since April that I've gone out, a little distance from home.

And it's actually different from my explorer personality.
If things were different, I would be an adventure traveler.
Exploring cities, localities, cultures..and probably making content about it.
But God knows why things are this way, and I couldn't be more happier.

Well, it's already a new week...and a transition into a new month.
October is calling already 🤙🏼
I thank God that I'm still here...and not preparing to move away like I thought.

I had told a friend, when I was convinced that I would be leaving by the end of this month.
But I found out that I need to accept my admission before preparing to go anywhere.
I haven't been offered the admission yet, so I wait.

It could come at anytime...and I'll be prepared by then.
I believe so 😌
Although, my guess is within the first three week of October...and I will finally move to a new location.

If I start thinking about what to expect, what it would be like or how I would express myself over there, I would just slip into inactivity and anxiety.
My mind is very visual...and I'll start imagining things.
No thank you, Duon-mind.
Not today.

Yes! Before I forget this...
I got this idea yesterday and it seemed like a good one.
It came to mind again...so it seems like I have to act on it.
Let me share it here, because we ain't hiding around here no more...

A few days ago, a former employer of mine contacted me and asked if I had anyone that could manage social accounts for his agency.
I recommended my student from a training that I held in June.

It was a content writing training but I had promised to get them jobs after the training.
Of the three people I trained, two of them got jobs in the same agency.
It was the last guy I recommended.

So, the idea came like this:
I would train people for the roles in my employer's marketing agency.
And when he needed a qualified person, he would come to me.
I actually want to let him know about what I intend to do, and know his thoughts on it.

I'm actually targeting youngsters that just finished high school, as well as those in universities who can't find a job out there.
And everything is mobile based, and they would already have an idea of what is to be done.

They would have to pay for the training tho...the same amount my first trainees paid.
And it's going to be batch by batch.
Anything else? 🤔
I haven't made out the details yet.
Just brain dumping here first.
Let's see how it goes.

That was a lengthy one, right?
And this time, it just came easily....just me thinking out loud.
By the way, I would also give an update of today's outing, in tomorrow's post.
Don't miss it 😉

Let's get into Highlights now...
I'll be sharing the whole note, so you can fully understand the concept from the author's perspective.
(Where you see "I", it's the author talking.)
And I'll be sharing my thoughts as well...

365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 On How to Use Books

"Books...are like lobster shells, we surround ourselves with ‘em, then we grow out of ‘em and leave ‘em behind, as evidence of our earlier stages of development."
Quote by Dorothy L. Sayers

When you’re new to the world of personal development, you read whatever you can grab your hands on. Every single classic, every book recommended to you by somebody you respect, every new bestselling release.

At first, it’s a fine strategy: you get to expose yourself to different authors, learn the fundamentals, and look at personal development from different perspectives.
However, as time passes, you should leave some books behind and progress to more specific advice.

For example, I used to read one general self-help book after another. Soon I found them all similar to each other.
Each new title added little to my knowledge. I outgrew those books, and needed to find a new teacher.

I transitioned to reading books about a more specific topic than general personal development: how to change myself to become a successful entrepreneur (and how to actually start and run a profitable company), how to improve my communication skills, how to eat healthily, or how to develop focus.

Then I started reading more biographies and autobiographies, where the lessons usually aren’t as clearly laid out as in a regular how-to book, but which are unique and more insightful, related to a specific problem the person portrayed in the biography had dealt with.

Recently I started expanding my horizons and seeking out books about specific problems I struggle with (for example, how to develop a better life philosophy) and reading books from other domains, so I could draw parallels from them and apply their principles to my own life.

Think of different categories of books as your development stages.
When a given type of a book no longer serves you, find a new teacher.

I agree with this idea presented by Martin Meadows.
I still remember the book that taught me about routines and habits.
"Habit Stacking" by SJ. Scott.
It was last year, when I first went offline for two months.

I applied the principles in the book and actually developed a routine of my own.
When I came back online, I stayed consistent with it for a few weeks, till I started to lose interest. Then I stopped.
But I can confidently say that I can develop a routine and follow it for more than 30 days.

I'm actually using a habit tracking app now. It's called HABIT...an app made by Leap Fitness Group.
I started using it then, when I first read the book. I later stopped, but I'm back on the app again.
It's actually very helpful, so I know what's important and keep in mind that I have to do it.

One thing the app has helped me with is the habit of starting and keeping streaks.
Whenever I want to go into something I'm not so sure of, I first do it for seven days.
As I document all about how the days went, I'm able to see if I can continue with it or not.

I've been writing for 270 days now.
That shows that I know a thing or two about sticking with an idea for a while, whether it's favourable or not.
This is actually my first time of keeping a long streak like this...and I'm still on it ✍🏼
Day 365...here we come!

Let's end this post on a hopeful note, shall we?

I hope this new week favors us all.
There will be more blessings and reasons to smile.
There will be more causes to glorify God in our lives. Amen 😌

That's it for today's post, and I thank you for reading.
See you in the next post 💜
