Truly Astonished
It's day 268 of documenting 2025.
97 days to 2026!
Well, my bad...
It's another late night post.
But the streak is still alive 🔥
Can I start with how my day went?
Maybe...
You know what?
Let's do Highlights first.
I can blab out all my thoughts then.
From what I see, I have to share the whole note for today.
The author (Martin Meadows) used a lot of "I".
See what I mean...
365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 On Taking Ownership for Your Ideas
"Regardless of what we create — a toy box, a new source of electricity, a new mathematical theorem —
much of what really matters to us is that it is our creation.
As long as we create it, we tend to feel rather certain that it’s more useful and important than similar ideas that other people come up with."
Quote by Dan Ariely
When people create something themselves — say, a birthday card for a friend — they value it more than something created by somebody else.
Similarly, people take ownership of their ideas and feel they’re more valuable simply because they’re their own ideas.
You can use this phenomenon to improve your self-discipline.
Instead of relying on my definition of self-discipline, come up with your own.
Jot down what self-control means to you, when you feel it, how you feel it and why is it important to you.
I can write all day long how important self-discipline is, but if you do it yourself and apply it to your personal situation, you’ll immediately understand it on a deeper level.
In addition to reading the tips and tricks I share in this book, come up with your own ideas.
You’ll be more likely to act on your own ideas than on the ones that you learned from me or from any other person.
I usually give two or three applications for every piece of advice, but it’s rarely limited to just those two or three uses.
Think about how you can adapt the
lessons to your own life or even test the opposite way of doing things — there’s rarely, if ever, only one correct method.
Discovering the right answer for your unique situation can deliver better results than reading even a hundred books about personal development.
Key takeaway (from my POV):
It's all about personal development...and our own definition and principles on it will help us understand it deeper.
Hence, making it easier to actually do what we need to do.
I definitely summed it up good 😁
But here's what I think:
Whatever principle that is necessary for living a good life, can already be found in the Bible. Read that again.
Personal development aka self help books are good...but the best of them all is the Bible.
It's something that comes alive in the heart of anyone that truly seeks God 🙂
Alright... it's time for me to blab about how my day went.
One word: astonishing!
Except for the parts where I dozed off in front of my pupil, whom I was tutoring after school.
Today, two things happened.
I already told my friend about it...but I just want to share them here as well.
So the memory can live on.
The first took place when was writing by hand this morning.
I was writing a letter to God's child....and it's a project in its earliest stages.
I was led to use an idea from another person's content.
But then I started copying the person's message...and then immediately felt like something was wrong.
God stopped me and I just had to pray for God's own direction on the letter.
Then I started writing.
Eventually, I ended up with an original piece, which was different from the content I was trying to copy.
I thanked God several times today for this breakthrough.
Which was something I couldn't do myself.
The second thing that happened...
Last prayed for God's intervention in the life of a particular girl in my assigned class.
To my utmost surprise, I saw a manifestation of that prayer being answered!
The girl was actually eager to learn!
I helped her out with lessons and boosted her morale as she passed all of the work I gave her.
Another student also made a comment that made me smile.
She was like,
"Miss Uche, sha actually focused this time around...what drug did you give her?"
I instantly remembered that I prayed about the her situation, and...
I was just beaming 😁
These days, I'm more and more.... convinced that God's way is the winning way.
Not even my principles can help me out in times of stress or anxiety.
God's Word is everlasting and supreme.
Let me quickly fetch a Bible verse that sums up the power of God's Word.
It's in Hebrews 4:12
"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
That's just about it!
And my prayer is that I continue in this genuine passion for God and the mission He has put me on this earth to do.
That's my prayer 🤲🏼
Well, that's about all the gist I have for you today.
And if I'm being frank...this is actually a "Behind The Scenes"...because I could have shared a generic excerpt from another book, but I chose to share this with you.
Thanks for reading 🎀
