End Of The Series

It's day 355 of documenting 2025.
10 days to 2026!

Well, today's post would be the last of the special series,
"Episode With E".
And with all that happened today, it's going to be a long one.

Okay, let me start from this morning. We had part two of the spelling competition by 6am.
Quite early, I know!
I actually thought it was going to be finalized last night but it wasn't.

Anyways, it was time for me to start spelling. A word would be pronounced and I was to spell it.
I wasn't feeling tensed until I heard a word that sounded confused.
My first guess...I failed it.
Then we had to use "the other method" to get the correct spelling. Then I got it.

Two rounds and 10 words later, we were done.
An email was sent that I should relax, as the results were being analyzed.
I used that time to prepare for the service where I was to sing as part of the choir.

I was also intentional to pack my things...as I was going back to the hostel today.
For what?
To enable me travel to my uncle's house for the holidays.
So I had so many places to be.

E got ready as well and we went to the church.
My cousin, whom I had planned to go with had already called me to know when we would be ready...so we could go together.
I told E when the service started that I wouldn't stay till the end.

Well, the service was not bad...except for the standing and sitting for the several hymns and carols that we sang.
By the time the singing was concluded, E told the pastor that I had to leave.

He let us go.

I showed E the results of the competition that was sent to my email. We won! 🎉
He was overjoyed!
As we got to his house, I picked my bags and bade farewell to his parents before leaving.
He accompanied me to where I got a bus and we parted.

Honestly, E deserves a hug 🫂
He was quite patient and caring....and didn't change his mind about me, even when I made up excuses to not go for the program.
Something I later enjoyed.
I'm glad I accepted his invite.
And I'm grateful to God for the opportunity to have the experience.

I got to the hostel by afternoon...and most of the rooms were locked.
I also boarded a Keke to take me and my brother to the school gate.
It then dropped me in front of the hostel so I could bring my bag down.

Battle stations!
I scrambled to my room and started arranging, rearranging and packing stuff into my bag.
Truth is, I hadn't actually packed my luggage to my liking before I left for E's place.

About 15 minutes later, I was able to get my suitcase in order and submit my room key before going downstairs.
Then the journey began....

Before I go any further, let's see the highlights for today and then I'll share my take on the topic before continuing the story. By the way, just 10 notes left...

365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 On Luxuries

"The taste for luxuries increases
with marvelous rapidity under indulgence."

Quote by George Payne Rainsford James

The more luxuries you consume and surround yourself with, the more you’ll become accustomed to them — and the harder it will be for you to tolerate something less than perfect.

While there’s nothing wrong in enjoying the fruits of your labor and making your life a little bit more convenient, be cautious to not overindulge in luxuries.
They can spoil you and make you less resilient and capable of dealing with difficult situations.

Not being able to accept something less than perfect is ultimately a big
weakness.
A disciplined person will be able to train in every gym or even without any equipment, eat healthily even if there are no Whole Foods markets available where they are, and stay productive even without a proper work desk.

Periodically go with something of a lower quality to remind yourself that things don’t have to be world-class in order to still serve their function.
Forego some conveniences to improve your tolerance of the hardships.

Don’t indulge yourself after a success, in order to remind yourself that ultimately the most valuable reward is the process you had to go through to achieve the final outcome.

Doing all of those things will increase your appreciation of what you have, and remind you that discomfort is always just a step away — and yes, there’s always the risk that one day it will be you who will have to tolerate it again.

For me, staying in the hostel is a good way to learn how to tolerate hardships.
Not every luxury is available, like steady light or water rushing inside.

You have to fetch water.
You have to manage less hours of light and come downstairs to charge with the solar system.
Well, that's how it is in my  hostel tho...don't know about yours.

Anyways, student life in general...especially in my school, will definitely teach you how to tolerate hardships.
Most students complain about the stress, but I actually see it as training.

What I came for won't come so easily, and I know that 😌
It's all part of the journey.
It's all part of the process.
We have to pass through it to get what we came for, right?

Alright...back to my story.
The journey went well.

I dozed off a couple of times tho...
But was wide-eyed when we got close to our destination.
We got to the final part of the trip:
Finding the exact location to my uncle's place.

My dad called several times to describe the place to the bike man.
We almost got lost, but was redirected in time. My brother and I got to our family house and met with my cousin and her friend.
I had asked her to go, since she couldn't wait for us anymore.

It was nice seeing my aunts again.
As expected, my dad called to know if we have gotten there safely.
He also spoke with my cousin...and my aunt as well.
I asked about my siblings over there in Lagos and then we talked for a few more minutes before ending the call.

Basically, my day was eventful.
I thank God for how it went 😌🙏
I know this week is going to be full of events, as it's Christmas week.
And word is, my uncle will be coming for the holidays soon.
It's going to be good 😄

That would be all for today's documentation
Thanks for reading 🎀

It's gonna be a full house this week.
And I'll document it all.
You know, this is going to be my first Christmas away from home.
Let's see how it goes.

See you in the next post 💜
