Officially 60 Days Left!

It's day 305 of documenting 2025.
60 days to 2026!

It's the weekend!
And a new month, November.
Happy New Month ☺️

Good news is, my brother has been finally cleared!
He can move into his hostel...but he needs to get a signed document from where I got mine, so he can get his mattress and bed cover.

Tomorrow is Sunday, and there's no work then.
So, my moving in has been shifted again....to Monday.
This time, it will be me and my brother taking our things at the same time to the school.
That's the update 🙂

How today went?
Just a regular Saturday afternoon.
Few chores, and I worked on some tasks for my online job.
And yes!
I was able to write down my October assessment, which I was supposed to do yesterday...being the 31st.

It's all good tho....it all worked out.
And I blasted some music and was just full of joy as I praised God.
It's a new month!
In everything, I'm most grateful 🥲
For the moments when I depend on God, He has never failed me.

Even today....I was a little upset.
Because my brother suggested that we move on Monday, when we had planned to go tomorrow.
But then, I accepted it as God's plan....and I trust the fact that He knows what He's doing.

Besides, what's the rush?
I'm already a student of UNIZIK....also known as a Zikite.
And I texted the girl occupying my space this afternoon.
She said that she would have packed up her things by then.
It's divine timing 😌

Alright....let's see today's highlights.
And as usual, I'll give my take on the topic and share a few more thoughts as well.
Then we end today's edition of the blog post.
Let's get into it! ✨

365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 On the Addiction to Electronics

"It is one of the unexpected disasters of the modern age that our new unparalleled access to information has come at the price of our capacity to concentrate on anything much.

The deep, immersive thinking which produced many of civilization’s most important achievements has come under unprecedented assault.

We are almost never far from a machine that guarantees us a mesmerizing and libidinous escape from reality.

The feelings and thoughts which we have omitted to experience while looking at our screens are left to find their revenge in involuntary twitches and our ever-decreasing ability to fall asleep when we should."
Quote by Alain de Botton

There’s no denying the fact that modern technology is a blessing.
It allows us to learn, make money, connect with our loved ones and other people from all over the world, entertain ourselves, and with each passing year, do a whole lot
more.

Yet, there exists a danger of becoming addicted to electronics.

Smartphones reduce our attention spans, easy access to information makes us too lazy to learn, and since it’s now so easy to get new things delivered to your doorstep, we’re constantly looking for a new shiny thing that will be the ultimate magic pill and solution to all of our problems.

I don’t believe that technology is our enemy, but I do believe that too much of it — as with excess in anything — leads to problems.

Fortunately, where there’s a problem, there’s an opportunity to learn.

You can dramatically improve your self-control by periodically reducing the amount of time spent using your phone or other devices.

For example, while you’re on vacation, resist the temptation to take a picture and share it on Facebook.
Instead, focus on the present moment and engrave it in your memories, not your social feed.

In the evening, at least every now and then, turn off all of the blue-light emitting devices and spend an hour reading a book. You’ll have an easier time
falling asleep, and it will be more recharging, too.

Whenever you catch yourself feeling anxious to check your phone or social media feeds, it’s a sign that you’re losing control. Reestablish it by periodically
going on short technology fasts or deliberately checking your phone less often than usual.

Well, I understand this fact too well.
The fact that there's something like addiction to devices.
But I wouldn't say that I'm addicted...and it's not just me saying that.

I admit, most of my activities these days are on my phone, because I haven't fully settled in yet.
My books and notes are still in the traveling bags, and to bring them out would just be scattering what I have already arranged.

Hopefully by next week, I'll be settled in and ready to work on not being on my phone most of the time. It would definitely require a calendar tho...🤔
That's by the way.

There are actually some days when I wasn't on my phone all day.
Like the exact day I traveled.
I wasn't even feeling too well, to even turn on my phone.
It was until we were close to out destination that I was feeling a bit better.
Wouldn't call that addiction, right?

I actually know a family back in Lagos that can't do without electronics.
Especially their television.
As a result, their generator was always on if there was no light.

And since I was teaching their little girl, I always took advantage of that to charge my power bank when we didn't have light.
Didn't want to miss an opportunity like that!

I guess that's all for today's post.
Don't really have any other thoughts to share.
Or do I? Let's see...
Nope!
That would be all for today's post.
Lastly, I want to mention how grateful I am for my life and family.

I don't know what lies ahead...but I strongly believe that God will take control.
And I don't have to worry about anything.

Thanks for reading 🎀
I hope you're doing well wherever you are...and that God is working greatly in your life.
