First Lecture And A Meeting

It's day 309 of documenting 2025.
56 days to 2026!

Mid week?
Nah...not yet.
That would be tomorrow 😌
Today wasn't so bad tho...

I went for my first "lecture" today.
It was supposed to be at another venue, but the course rep for my department (psychology) called for a meeting between all psychology students.
That was where I went first.

It was a large lecture hall, much bigger than my seccodary school classroom.
I came earlier than the slated time, in my departmental uniform...which was a sky blue shirt and a black skirt.

The initial lecture was eventually moved to Monday.
So, the meeting lasted till afternoon.
I met with all my coursemates....and it was a wonderful time getting to know each and every one of them.

The course rep called for introductions and we all introduced ourselves.
I introduced myself as Ada, which is what I would like to be known as in school.

I was fascinated with the way our course rep shared his story and related with each one of us.
On our first meeting, we already cultivated a spirit of camaraderie.
And another thing happened.

I was picked as the assistant course rep.
I didn't even expect it.
A lady just spoke up and nominated me...and the others agreed instantly.
Me? An assistant leader?

Maybe it was because of my corporate dressing...because all the others were in casual clothing.
I was also told to stand up when someone asked for the departmental uniform.
Overall, the meeting was a very good one.

We also met the HOD, who addressed us and told us about the expectations, as well as things we would need to take note of.
Before that, one of the lecturers stepped into the class and we fixed our first lecture for Tuesday next week.
I'll be ready by then 😌

Well, that's the update on how today went.
Let's see today's highlights and then I'll probably share a few thoughts.

365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 On the Matters of Right and Wrong

"Right is right even if no one is doing it; wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it."
Quote by Augustine of Hippo

More than 70% of U.S. adults aged 20 and over are overweight or obese. Does that mean that it’s right to be obese?

On average, American adults are watching five hours and four minutes of television per day. Does that mean that it’s right to spend a third of your waking hours and well over a half of your leisure hours watching TV?

If you’re after self-improvement, you need to acknowledge that the right thing is right even when people are doing it — and that no matter how many people are doing the wrong thing, it’s still wrong.

Don’t comfort yourself by saying that your negative habits aren’t that negative because so many people engage in them.

Even if everybody exhibits such behaviors, it doesn’t make them right.
Have the courage and self-discipline to resist the temptation to compare yourself to the majority.

Instead, if you must compare yourself to anyone, compare yourself to the people you want to emulate, even if they’re but a speck in an infinite crowd of people who don’t care in the slightest about becoming better.

Lesson for today:
Don't compare yourself to others who are doing the wrong thing and probably doing well.
It's still the wrong thing.

Now more than ever, I'm surrendering more to God in every of my dealings.
That's because He always guides and directs me.

Like this morning, I was torn between attending the meeting called for by our course rep and the GS lecture that was eventually cancelled.

I then confided in my roommate, asking her which was more important.
She told me that I could always cover up in the lecture, that the meeting is important.
I followed God's direction through my roommate and it turned out well.

Just imagine that I hadn't asked questions or confided in God.
My mind was initially set on going for the lecture.
If I had followed through, I would have wasted money on transport and missed a wonderful bonding session with my coursemates.

All's well that ends well.
I'm grateful to God for how today went.
Apparently, I don't have any other lectures till next week.
So, the remaining days of this week are free.

I'm going to enjoy my free time while it lasts, because work starts fully next week.
I can finally sleep it tonight! 😄

That would be all for today's post.
Thanks for reading 🎀
