Travel Day

It's day 296 of documenting 2025.
69 days to 2026!

Well, today was travel day.
And we're still on the trip as I'm typing this.
It's 10:38 PM....and it's been a long day.

It started with a long wait for the vehicle that we're currently in.
I don't even know where we are right now.
All I know is, we're headed somewhere.

I think the highlight of today's journey would be the stops on the way by the customs officers.
That was what delayed us.
We were stopped more than 7 times....and we had to wait for 30 minutes so the driver could clear his papers and settle the officers.

There was also the incident of bad roads and an unlucky turn.
We didn't know the road ahead was blocked, until we got to where the blockage was....a trailer fallen in the middle of the road.
We had to turn back and proceed to another route.

This journey actually taught me a few things, that I would like to reflect on.
But of course, that would be after we go through the book we're highlighting, which is a 365-day book.
Written by Martin Meadows, a wonderful author.

365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 On Your Habitual Thoughts

"Such as are thy habitual thoughts, such also will be the character of thy mind; for the soul is dyed by the thoughts."
Quote by Marcus Aurelius

The thoughts you entertain most often will have the biggest impact on who you are as a person.

If you think about your business every day, you’ll define yourself as an entrepreneur.
If you have negative thoughts every day, your attitude will be negative.

If every day you blame everything and everyone but you for your problems in life, you’ll self-identify as a victim.
For this reason, it’s a good exercise to periodically take stock of your most habitual thoughts and their potential impact on who you are as a person.

For example, I recently discovered that I had been engaging in too many negative thoughts.
While those negative thoughts usually represent a small percentage of the thoughts I have, lately they had multiplied.

Using Marcus Aurelius’s words, I don’t want to let them dye my soul black, so I’ve made a decision to focus on cultivating more positive thoughts and weeding out the negative ones.

Think of the most common thoughts you’ve been engaging in recently and ask yourself if they represent the kind of a person you want to be.
If not, it’s time to exert some self-discipline and regain control of your mind.

Okay, okay....
Let me say something here.
One thing I like about Martin Meadows in this book is the fact that he uses his own experiences to bring the concepts to life.
And about this particular concept, even the Bible says,
"As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he".

Now, about the reflections of this trip, which we're still on.....
I would like to compare it to a journey to achieving a goal.

It starts out with the expected plan of the process.
Then you start the journey and then quickly realize that it's much more different from what you thought.

Then you get stopped on the way.
Distractions, delays and disappointments....all asking that you pay a price for even thinking to start the journey in the first place.

Sometimes, it's a missed turn.
You might think that a particular way would be open for you....but when you go down that path, you find out that an element stands in the way to your destination.
You will have to find another way to continue your journey.

Finally, everything starts to fall in place.
The way is free now, and everything works out as they're supposed to.
Eventually, you get to your destination.

Always remember that everyone is on a journey to some kind of achievement.

Your journey might be different from that of the next person, but whether you complete the journey or not depends on your reaction and response to the things you will face.

God is the best travel partner I know. You can do life with Him and never feel like you're on the wrong way.
That's what I think anyways...

That would be all for today's post.
