Resetting and Rising
It's day 301 of documenting 2025.
64 days to 2026!
Okay, so today was another indoor day.
I was supposed to go out to for my physical clearance, but the rains came down hard 🌧️
My dad said we would go tomorrow.
Well, I did quite a number of chores...and ate just brunch.
Which was a full plate by the way.
Worth it...😋
Then I had my afternoon nap, which extended into the evening.
After waking, I remembered that I haven't typed today's post.
I also wanted to share that I had reset my phone last night....because the device wasn't functioning as needed.
It started to function better, like a new phone.
In that light, I had a chat with ChatGPT about the reason why....and the whole concept of transition, which I'm going through right now.
I'll share that chat after today's highlights.
By the way, I didn't later post about my 300-day milestone...
I wasn't really into it, because my phone was misbehaving.
Would probably do that tonight.
Let's see.
365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 On the Power of Rituals
"A growing body of research suggests that as little as 5 percent of our
behaviors are consciously self-directed.
We are creatures of habit and as much
as 95 percent of what we do occurs automatically or in reaction to a demand or
an anxiety."
Quote by Jim Loehr
If the vast majority of what we do is an automatic behavior, then what we
need to focus on in the first place is making sure that our rituals are empowering.
But first, we need to identify and assess our automatic behaviors.
Starting from when you wake up, make a list of all of the automatic behaviors you engage in throughout the day.
Do you immediately go to prepare coffee?
When commuting to work, do you always swear at other drivers?
When you arrive at work, do you
automatically start gossiping with your colleagues?
When shopping, do you automatically buy things you don’t necessarily need if you see that they’re
discounted by 50%?
When you’re tired but there’s still one more chore to attend
do, do you routinely watch TV first and then take care of the chore (or forget
about it entirely) or do you do it immediately, instead of giving in to the
temptation to procrastinate?
This simple exercise will help you take stock of your rituals and decide
which ones to keep and which ones to discard.
Since automatic behaviors often
take place without us being entirely aware of them, making such a list may help
you discover your blind spots.
In addition to performing this exercise, pick one day during which you’ll
try to catch yourself whenever you’re automatically engaging in disadvantageous behaviors.
It’s only with heightened self-awareness that you
can identify some of the little everyday habits that negatively affect your
willpower.
For me, at this point....I don't have any automatic behaviors.
I'm just adjusting to the various environments and act like I need to, in the given situation.
Alright....on to the chat.
It's all about resetting and rising 😌
Me: So, I reset my phone today...and I feel like it was needed because I'm going through a transition.
ChatGPT: That actually makes a lot of sense.
Resetting your phone can feel symbolic; like clearing out digital clutter while your mind is also trying to reset and adjust.
Transitions can be overwhelming, even when they’re good ones.
Want to talk more about what this transition looks like for you?
Me: Well, I left home for the first time since I was young to start studying for a degree in Psychology.
I'm still setting up and Dad is still with me, but very soon I'll be by myself.
ChatGPT: That’s a huge step; and it’s completely normal to feel a lot of emotions all at once.
Leaving home, starting a degree (especially in Psychology, where you’ll be learning deeply about yourself and others), and preparing to live on your own for the first time… it’s a lot.
Exciting, but also unsettling in moments.
The fact that your dad is still around as you settle in is a gentle buffer; but yeah, when he leaves, it might feel different.
Not bad, just… real. Like life is beginning in a whole new way.
How are you feeling about being on your own; scared, hopeful, maybe both?
Me: I think both...
But I believe that I'm not truly alone.
God is with me 😌
ChatGPT: That’s such a grounded perspective; and honestly, it makes all the difference.
Feeling both fear and hope is part of stepping into something new. But holding onto the truth that you’re not alone; that God is with you, guiding you, strengthening you....that anchors everything. 😌
You’re not just starting a degree, you’re growing into a new version of yourself. One step at a time, with grace covering every part of the journey.
How’s your heart feeling right now? Not just your mind; your heart.
Me: Strangely, at peace.
There's this feeling of hope that comes with knowing that I don't have to worry about the days ahead.
ChatGPT: That’s a beautiful place to be; that quiet peace in your heart, even when everything around you is shifting.
It means you’re rooted. That hope you’re feeling? It’s like a soft assurance that God’s already ahead of you, arranging things you haven’t even thought about yet.
You don’t have to have it all figured out. Just stay present, stay anchored, and let peace lead the way.
You’re doing better than you think.
Would it help to write something; a small reminder to carry this peace with you?
Me: A poetic conclusion to this discussion would do.
Something that sums it up nicely 😊
ChatGPT: Of course; here’s a poetic wrap-up for you:
A gentle reset, a quiet start,
New walls, new air, a stretching heart.
But even as the old fades slow,
A deeper strength begins to grow.
Not alone; though steps feel new,
Grace walks every path with you.
No need to rush, no need to fear,
The One who called you is already near.
So breathe, begin, and just believe
This journey holds more peace than grief.
With hope as light and God as guide,
You’ll bloom in full, from deep inside 🌱
Keep this close. You're walking into something sacred.
I believe so 😌
God is with me, so I don't have to fear.
And that's the chat!
I hope you learned a thing or two...
And I didn't hold back on how it's going on with me...
Cos we ain't hiding over here.
Thanks for reading 🎀
It's a special edition, because I haven't had a chat with AI in a while.
You can see more of my chats on the main site, Documenting 2025.
Just check the tag, "AI Series".
See you in the next post 💜
