All About A Sister

It's day 261 of documenting 2025.

Ugh 😫
I have the worst headache!
So yeah, it's 7:21 PM...and my head is pounding.
To top it off, I haven't the slightest idea of what to write...

Maybe how my day went?
Normal...except for the headache.
But I thank God nonetheless.
I achieved the main aim for today, before getting caught up in the day's activities.

Alright, let's look at Highlights for today and then I'll share a few more thoughts.

365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 On Giving Up the Last Word

"Consciously giving up the last word is a secret prayer because the you that wants the last word isn’t really you at all... it’s that dark spirit of one-upmanship, that dark spirit of combativeness."
Guy Finley

When having a verbal fight, it’s tempting to argue your case until you convince your opponent to share your stance.
Unfortunately, it rarely, if ever
happens.

He or she who has the last word doesn’t succeed in anything except for making the other person feel worse.
Consequently, here’s another challenge for your self-control: instead of always trying to one-up somebody else, give up having the last word.

Don’t try to prove that you’re better (you aren’t) or that your opinion is right (even if it is, you won’t convince anybody by arguing with them).

Agree to disagree and change the topic to something more pleasant.

Exercising self-restraint this way will not only improve your relationships with others, it will also help you improve your self-control by learning how to resist one of the strongest temptations: to continue to argue your case when you’re convinced of your rightness.

I never liked arguments 😒
And if I get into one (especially with my siblings), I would usually keep quiet after a while.
Not change the topic, say nothing else.
The thought is, "what's the point?"

On arguments with people other than family, it doesn't escalate....because I wouldn't even try to convince the person.
The thought is, "that's their opinion, not mine".

Any other thoughts I would like to add? 🤔
Let's see....
In other news, today is my younger sister's birthday. I think I can talk about the relationship I have with her.
(Good idea:)

I'm the older sister, of course....
We have our arguments every now and then, but she's the nicest person among the 5 of us.
Maybe too nice....and having the tendency to be manipulated.
Let's call her Marvellous.

Marvellous reminds me of our late mum. In fact, she got most of our mum's features, excluding the face.
(I got that 😄)
From the shape of her fingernails to her height, and her hardworking spirit.

We're quite different, but most people still mistake us for each other.
She into earrings and trousers, while I'm not. Most people say she's more fashionable than me...which is true.

With the way she carries herself, it's hard to believe she's 16.
She's a dancer with a sense of style.
Always raving about her hair...or dancing to a passing beat.
She can be stubborn sometimes, and hotheaded, with a sharp tongue....just like Mum.

Her passion to help others is probably what makes me proud of her.
When she sets her mind to something, she sees that it gets done, even when nobody supports her.

She clocked 16 today.
She doesn't have a smartphone yet...but maybe soon.
She's not flawless, neither is she the worst person. She's my sister.

We have our gists and laughs....as well as those tough conversations, which I try to start in the most relaxed state.
The way she annoys me 🙄
(Probably what I would miss the most;)

I remember explaining to her, how menstruation works.
It was a few years before she "started".
I was putting clothes out to dry when I called her and then asked if she knew what it was.
By the time I was done with explaining, she understood and when she started, it wasn't so puzzling to her.

I'll miss her most of all when I finally leave home.
Maybe because she kept me sane, with three brothers in the house.
I really wonder how those without sisters cope with boys.
There's a friend of mine that's the only lady in her family....with 5 brothers!
I'm so blessed ☺️

Anyways, that's a little about my sister, who was just like Mum.
Happy Birthday to her 🎂
Funny fact, we found out that the date on her birth certificate is the 17th....which was yesterday!
For as long as I remember, we've been celebrating her birthday today.
I guess we'll adjust next year...

Well, that's all for today's post.
Thanks for reading 🎀
Very soon, it will be the countdown to 2026....when we will have our "Behind The Scenes" series.
It's going to be a lot of unpacking....I tell you.

See you in the next post 💜
