A Wakeup Call From Kev

It's day 195 of documenting 2025.

New week...
New perspective.

Since it's Monday, it's okay that I share some good ol' motivation, yeah?
But before that, let's start with Highlights.

365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 On Procrastination as Your Ally

"If I defer writing a section, it must be eliminated.
This is simple ethics: Why should I try to fool people by writing about a subject for which I feel no natural drive?
Quote by Nassim Taleb

People consider procrastination an enemy and seek ways to eliminate it from their life.
What if I told you that procrastination can be actually one of your greatest allies?
In essence, when you’re putting something off, it’s because you don’t care about it enough to take action now.

If there’s no natural drive to get it done, then it means you’re forcing yourself into doing something that isn’t right for you.
Perhaps it’s the wrong action or you’re thinking about it in the wrong way.
Regardless, in both of those circumstances, procrastination tells you that you’re lacking the right motivation.

Hmm 🤔
Let me ponder that for a second.
The past week, I watched movies most of the time...not because I didn't have things to do.
Neither was it because I had free time.
It was because there was no PLAN for how to get things done.
I was dwelling on that...and the procrastination took over.
More like escape.

The next time you catch yourself delaying action, reassess your motivators.
If you’re constantly putting it off, your chances of success are slim. Discover better reasons why, or give up and do something else that won’t result in constant procrastination.

Better reasons why...
I like the sound of that 🙂
What better reason than the fact that someone out there needs me?
My work, my writing, my presence.
Truth is, I was scared of putting pen to paper for a while.
Like...I haven't written down anything in my notebook for days...
I'll write today.
I'll plan...and make things right.

As for the motivation, here it goes:
Keep moving.
That's it!

This afternoon, a friend of mine called....and he gave me the encouragement I needed.
He was talking about all the things he was into and the fact that time can pass by which is why it's important to be used wisely.

Just when I was uncertain about the journey ahead...he helped me realize that no matter what, you have to keep going.
I was feeling empty and emotionless for the past two weeks and I know why now.
I was in one place.
Not stuck...just motionless.

There was nothing I got my hands into or engaged in that was a good use of time....aka productive.
I wouldn't say I regret that.
Infact I'll say I needed it....so I could process my feelings.
I'm over it now.
It's time to get back on track and do what I truly want to.

Thanks Kev 😊
You don't know how much you helped me by calling today.
Twas no ordinary conversation...it was a wakeup call.

Speaking of wakeup call, I'd like to share a poem about remembering that we all die someday.
It's actually based on the Latin phrase, Memento Mori.
And it's also the title of the poem.

Memento Mori

You have a mind; so let it burn,
Not with fear, but truth you learn.
Why fear death, or passing days,
When thought can shape your truest ways?

Ashes fall on altar stone,
One now, one later; all alone.
But each a gift, a sacred breath,
Returning home, not lost in death.

The world may mock, then raise your name,
Yet neither praise nor scorn is fame.
Hold fast your light, your quiet creed,
Don’t bow to pride or praise or need.

The hours slip like grains of sand,
No endless years, no promised land.
While breath is yours, choose to be kind,
Let goodness mark your heart and mind.

Forget the noise, the poisoned glance,
Your peace is not in fate or chance.
It's in the path you choose to see
Not what they are, but who you’ll be.

So live as though the end draws near,
Not with dread, but vision clear.
Each moment calls with whispered plea:
“Remember, mortal; you are free.”

Memento Mori.
Remember death. And so, live fully.

I hope you learned something from the poem.
I did...and here's what I learned:
"You don't know how much time you have on earth. Live the best life you can".

This is where I'll end today's post.
Thanks for reading 🎀
I hope it's all good where you are...and if it's not, just remember:
It could have been worse.

I haven't been sharing my links here for a while now.
I think they should make a comeback...
Here they are:

I'm Duon Ada.
I'm documenting 2025,
And I'll see you tomorrow.
Ciao 💕
