Are You Drifting Through Life?

It's day 162 of documenting 2025.
Wednesday...
Already giving out mid-week vibes.
I'm still chilling tho 😉
#midtermbreak
So yesterday, I read Meditations by Marcus Aurelius.
Some of what I read were unclear...and I had to read again.
I'll share one of them...one that really resonated with me.
Before the sections for today, I just want to say a thing or two on direction.
Ahem! (clearing my throat, pretending I'm about to give a speech...)
Once, I asked two guys a question as part of a random Q and A session.
I was still going to the tutorial center then...
So, I asked, "where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?"
Guess what?
They gave the exact same response.
"Let me think about it...I will get back to you".
Seriously!
It's not a good thing...that some people in my age group (at least the ones I've seen!) don't have a sense of where they want to be.
It seems they're just drifting through life.
Waiting for the next free class on how to make money...
Checking for when the admission process will commence so they can study whatever...
Posting Tiktoks of themselves making stupid faces and apparently looking 'cute'.
Drifting through life with no clear goal or plan is a cause of failure.
Are they failing already?
Yes...if they don't have a plan or goal to work towards.
I'm not saying it's all of them.
I know some pretty responsible people my age, trying to make a difference.
5 years from now, they would have made something for themselves.
While the drifters will still be in the same place...drifting.
I'm no drifter...I've got plans.
5 years from now, I should be done with school.
I would be a successful online writing coach, planning her first trip to the USA.
Pretty specific, ainit?
From my heart to God's ears 😌
The lesson here my friend...
Don't drift through life.
Set a goal and work to get what you want.
And the universe will support you.
Thank you for listening
👏👏👏👏👏
(applause and cheering)
End of role play.
So, where were we?
Right? The sections for today.
First is Highlights...and the next, Meditations.
Let's get into it!
365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 On Inverse Paranoia
"Inverse paranoid: someone who believes the world is conspiring to do him good. Sees every situation as being heaven-sent to teach some valuable lesson or make him successful.
This is the most outwardly identifiable quality of a high-performing person.
Quote by Brian Tracy
Brian Tracy... 🤩
One of my favorite personalities in the world
I have one of his books in my room.
It's called, "Success Is A Journey"
I've read the book more than 5 times.
I think I'll read it again...
"Cognitive reframing is a process in which you change the meaning of a difficulty, hardship, or failure and give it a positive slant."
"If you’re ready to take cognitive reframing to the extreme (and I strongly recommend you do so), develop what Brian Tracy calls “inverse paranoia”: the belief that the world is conspiring to do you good and that everything that happens to you contributes to your success."
"Living with such a mindset not only makes you happier. It also makes you more mentally resilient (because you know that everything happens for a good reason) and consequently, less likely to become discouraged and give up."
Can we be inverse paranoid?
I think so.
It's a mindset we should attain to 💯
Coupled with a growth mindset and goals to achieve, it should be a winning strategy.
Moving on...
I would like to introduce a new section called, "Meditations".
Here, I will share some quotes from the book bearing the same title, written by Marcus Aurelius.
And I'll share my thoughts on them as well
Meditations
📌 Quote of the day
"Concentrate every minute like a Roman—like a man—on doing what’s in front of you with precise and genuine seriousness, tenderly, willingly, with justice.
And on freeing yourself from all other distractions.
Yes, you can—if you do everything as if it were the last thing you were doing in your life, and stop being aimless, stop letting your emotions override what your mind tells you, stop being hypocritical, self-centered, irritable.
You see how few things you have to do to live a satisfying and reverent life? If you can manage this, that’s all even the gods can ask of you."
I said earlier that this resonated with me.
This is because of the emphasis on concentration and "don't let your emotions distract you from your actions".
Pretty deep stuff, my friend 🙂
So, in summary,
Have a clear plan, concentrate on the journey and keep your emotions separate from your actions.
C'est fini!
This is where we say our goodbyes for today.
Thanks for reading, as always 🎀
