Reconnecting With Aisha
It's day 143 of documenting 2025.
It's a Friyay! πΈ
Another week has come and gone.
Am I the only one feeling like time is running quite fast?
Hmm...
Perceptions.
Anyhoo....
Something remarkable happened yesterday.
I reconnected with a school friend of mine.
Yeah...I said friend.
In yesterday's post, I mentioned how I thought I didn't make any friends after graduating from high school.
Well, I thought wrong.
Aisha was like a sister to me.
More than a classmate for sure π₯°
She messaged me yesterday.
I'm very happy to reconnect with another school friend of mine.
So, a little about Aisha...
She's a Muslim.
She has a twin sister that was also my friend in school...although we weren't close.
She's in my age group...in her twenties as well.
Aisha is a wonderful lady and has the kindest heart ❤️
Although it's been long since we were last in contact, I know that much about her.
We have a lot to catch up on tho...
Big girl talk.
Truth is, after I got a smartphone for the first time in 2023, I searched for all my classmates online.
I saw some of them...how their lives have changed.
I decided to not message some of them then, because we weren't close in school.
The thought was, "meet new people, focus on work and make money".
Along the line, I reconnected with quite a number of them.... including those that really impacted my life in school.
I'm only in contact with a few of them to this day.
That's enough for me.
I don't need a lot of people to feel loved and supported.
A few great friends are enough π
Message to Aisha:
"My darling sister π
I actually had mixed feelings when I saw your message.
I was happy and at the same time guilty.
Guilty that I didn't think of you since all these years.
I've been busy, building...learning...and earning.
Not just money, but also experiences.
Many things have happened since graduation...
And if I were to tell you all of it, it would fill a whole book π
I will try to tell you the most important ones...later on.
Just know that I'm happy you messaged and I pray we never get disconnected again.
I'm an online writer, Aisha.
And my pen name is Duon Ada.
That's the name you saw on my WhatsApp profile.
As well as my Facebook.
It's still my name tho....just like an acronym for all of them.
I'll tell you about that later...or maybe I should join let you know now.
So I won't forget π
You know my names right?
Here's what Duon Ada means...
D - Divinegift
U - Uchechukwu
ON - Onuchukwu.
Ada is my native name. A title in Igboland for the first daughter of the family.
You see?
It's nothing different.
But in the real world, everyone knows me as Uche.
I teach in a school close to my house...and students call me Miss Uche.
How nice.
I never thought of teaching...but I have my reasons for doing it this time.
Reasons beyond the pay I'm getting.
Aisha, this is my blog.
I started writing on the first day of this year...and the goal is to write till the last day of this year.
365 days in a row.
I'm sure you didn't picture me a writer when we were in school...
But things happened.
Things that changed the course of my life.
I can't tell you about them now...
This post will be too long if I do so.
I'll explain better over the weekend.
Maybe over a call or through voice notes.
You can also tell me about you too.
I'm sure you and your sister are doing great things.
You're the Lamidi sisters, of course...a dynamic duo.
Dear Aisha, we'll definitely catch up π"
Okay, my friend, that was my message to Aisha.
I'm telling her all that so that she can get an overview of my life presently.
Besides, I'm in school right now.
Teaching these rascals....
I mean...students π
By the way, this post is scheduled.
Anyhoo...
Let's move to the main sections for today..
One, quotes from a book.
Two, flashback to a former post.
Let's get into it.
365 Days With Self-discipline
π On Falling In Love With The Idea Of Starting
"What was the use of doing great things if I could have a better time telling
her what I was going to do?"
Quote by F. Scott Fitzgerald
"There’s an inherent danger in sharing with everybody what you’re going to
do: you might fall in love with the idea of starting something at the expense of
actually doing it."
This is true...
Sometimes, this happens with me.
But something I do is, I tell a few close friends about it...but not before writing it down first ✍️
This ensures that I follow through with what I say I want to do.
"Telling others about your plan can be addictive because it delivers a reward
without you having done any meaningful work: you boast about what you’re
going to do, people are impressed, and you get a sense of accomplishment."
Nah...I don't do this π
I only tell people what I want to do, not how I plan to do it.
That information is for my notebook only.
"Are there any goals of yours that you “started” working on a long time ago,
but which in fact still remain in the realm of unmaterialized plans?
An easy way
to figure this out is to think of your recent conversations and find a topic that you
frequently talk about, but never actually act upon."
Hmm...let me think π€
I don't have any of such topics.
Besides, there's something I'm currently doing that no one knows about.
Except for one person.
He recently got a job...so did I.
Then I told him "the other thing".
I won't mention it for now....but later, I definitely will.
I'll even make the whole post about this "other thing".
You'll be here by then, right?
I hope so π
Moving on....
Blast From The Past
π When Things Don't Go As Planned
This is actually day 12.
It's also one of 'dem short posts'.
Fun fact...in this post, I mentioned 365 Days With Self-discipline for the first time.
The book we're currently using for highlights.
There was no power that time as well.
I just wrote as I thought...and from the way I sounded, I was kinda pissed off.
And that's what made it extraordinary.
I had launched my blueprint by then.
And I was working on the copy for the product description.
Guess I figured it out eventually...
The copy packs a punch!
It can convert...it just has to reach a large number of qualified leads.
Cos my product isn't for everyone.
Lemme not start yapping about online marketing.....
You can read the full post here.
It won't take up to 3 minutes to read.
It ain't so long.
That's all for today's post.
Thanks for reading, my friend π
For always reading.
You can check out more posts and catch up on last week.
I'll see you there π
Lemme do a little promotion....
Permit me, okay?
Thanks!
Now, for my iconic closing lines:
(Not to brag...but they're one of a kind π)
I'm Duon Ada.
I'm documenting 2025.
And I'll see you tomorrow.
Ciao π
