On Keystone Habits
It's day 142 of documenting 2025.
"Another day, another...."
Yeah, I can't think of a good opening for today's post.
All I know is, this one's scheduled.
I hope it's all good where you are, my friend ☺️
You're probably reading from Nigeria...or the US...or Ireland..
(says the analytics report 📊
You may be visiting for the first time or you've been following every post.
Whatever circumstance, you're truly welcome here.
Lemme tell you about something I discovered yesterday.
I was on Facebook and I came across this particular ad.
It talked about an app where writers can literally cash out from their writing.
In my mind, I was like....
"Here we go again with these schemes 🙄"
But I was more curious than sceptical.
I decided to download the app it led me to...with the mind of deleting it if it doesn't make any sense.
Guess what?
The app is still on my phone.
After signing up and exploring the app for a while, I realized that I was wrong about it.
There's so much potential!
By the way, the app is a micro blogging platform called, "Storipod".
I'll tell you about the workings later...maybe during the weekend.
But I'm going to do my hometown on it first.
Post something...
Like and follow a few people...
Engage...
Let's see how it goes 😌
I also talked to another friend of mine who goes by the name, Kev.
He messaged me yesterday (after a short while...) to tell me that he had secured a new job.
And this one pays better than the old one he quit from.
How cool is that!
There's nothing that makes me happier than seeing my friends making progress in their lives.
It warms my heart ❤️
I'm part of a network of people who want to make a difference in this twisted world.
(Yeah I said it...the world's twisted!)
It makes me want to do better, become better in my own life.
Because ten years from today, we would all be reaping the fruits of our efforts in this period.
No doubt about that.
So, my friend, choose your friends wisely.
Your life just get better after that.
Funny fact....
I thought I didn't have any friends after graduating from high school.
If you had asked me then, I would tell you I didn't have any friends...I just had classmates.
I thought I was alone.
4 years after high school, I was opportuned to connect with Kev (the friend I mentioned earlier...).
He was the first contact from high school.
By constantly communicating with him, I realized something.
For you to make a lasting friendship, you first have to be a friend who's always trying to improve, grow and learn.
Later on, if the person doesn't match your vision, you'll notice.
Note this tho....
Not everyone can be your friend.
But you can be friends with everyone.
(Read that again! 🤔)
Blah...blah...
That's the end of that.
What I just related is not irrelevant, I just have to stop here for today..
So we can dive into the main sections for today.
365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 On Keystone Habits
"Typically, people who exercise, start eating better and becoming more
productive at work.
They smoke less and show more patience with colleagues
and family.
They use their credit cards less frequently and say they feel less stressed. Exercise is a keystone habit that triggers widespread change.
Quote by Charles Duhigg
"A keystone habit is a habit that results in other positive changes in your life without directly focusing on them."
"For example, the decision to start exercising
will affect your diet, productivity, patience, and overall well-being.
Instead of focusing on several different habits, you can concentrate on
making one change and, as if by magic, it will lead to other improvements that
are introduced virtually without effort."
"If you want to get the best return on your efforts, focus on establishing
keystone habits first and only work on other routines when you already have
established the keystone habits as habits. Some keystone habits include:
- regular exercise;
- making your bed every morning;
- tracking what you eat;
- saving money;
- meditation;
- waking up earlier;
- expressing gratitude;
- regularly getting enough quality sleep ;
- trying a new thing every day."

I had to lift all of today's note.
I couldn't just pick out a quote, like in yesterday's post.
You probably get the concept of "keystone habits" now.
Moving on...
Blast From The Past
📌 On Pain And Pleasure
Here, I talked about the two forces that control most of our decisions.
Twin powers known as,
Pain and Pleasure.
Lemme quote from the post, just to remind us of a lesson.
This was in my own words:
"Then Tony goes on to talk about procrastination in relation to pain and pleasure.
I will paraphrase what I read in 3 points.
1. Procrastination - You know you should do something, but you still don't do it. Why not?
2. Simple answer - You believe that taking action in this moment would be more painful than just putting it off.
3. Then comes the experience of putting off something for so long that you suddenly felt pressure to just get it done.
Suddenly, not taking action became more painful than putting it off."
Read the full post here.
I think it's a known fact...
That we all would do more to avoid pain than to gain pleasure.
Psychology 101...or not! 😅
Well, we're almost at the end of this week...
After today, then comes Friyay!
This week is a perfect definition of "how time flies!".
Got any plans for the weekend?
I have some....
This is where I draw the curtains for today's post.
Another day added to the streak!
It's amazing how writing each post has become something I look forward to....
It's mainly because I have someone waiting to read it 😇
