"Add A Little Discomfort...."
It's day 108 of documenting 2025.
The title is quite weird, right?
I agree.
"Add a little discomfort".
What does that even mean?
Well, it's what I did yesterday.
I didn't eat or drink from morning till 3pm.
It was quite uncomfortable π£
But I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it.
I even started having second thoughts.
When it was 2pm, the voice in my head was like, "You've tried....you can eat now. Besides it's more than 17 hours already."
But I countered that voice.
"Just one hour left....and it will be over, so why not wait till then?"
I think that resolve came from the fact that I wrote it down in my note the night before.
And I just wanted to write, "I did it!" in the same space as the challenge.
I wrote it and even added my signature...for the pizzaz ✨
Honestly, what made it easy was the fact that I spent most of the time studying past questions.
And not thinking about what to eat actually improved my focus.
I should do it more often.....π€
I practiced intentionality and "adding a little discomfort".
For me, being comfortable means I'm in my comfort zone.
So, occasionally being uncomfortable is a way to balance the scale.
We learn everyday, my friend π
Oh! Before I forget...
A friend of mine made a good point concerning this blog.
I was telling her about how I type, format and schedule each post.
She wore a look of surprise when I told her I was doing it all from my smartphone π±
True fact by the way.
Then she said something along the lines of, "why don't you write about what happened today in today's post and drop it by 12 midnight?"
Okay let me answer that.
One, it's the best way so far for me to be consistent in this writing challenge.
Two, It's very convenient for me to write after the day has passed....so I can have stories to tell.....like this one.
Which happened yesterday.
And third, relating today what happened yesterday is my own way of keeping the memories alive.
I tend to forget experiences and how I feel at a particular time.
But Documenting 2025 is my store house for all the days in 365 days.
Visit if you haven't, okay?
Oops!
I almost forgot...
It's a Friyay! ππΌππΌ
Let's do the highlights for today.
I'll share a few more thoughts and then say my closing lines.
Sounds like a plan!
365 Days With Self-discipline
π On Following A Routine
"I only write when inspiration strikes.
Fortunately it strikes at nine every
morning."
Quote by William Faulkner
"If you depend on inspiration to act on your goals, don’t expect to achieve them quickly (if ever)."
"The only way to ensure that you consistently advance toward your
objectives is to establish a routine and force inspiration upon yourself. It works in the same way as with people who always feel hunger at the same time: they’ve accustomed their bodies to eating at the same hour every day."
"You can benefit from routines when working on virtually any other goal."
"Making your life predictable by sticking to a set of routines might seem boring, but imagine how exciting it will be to finally accomplish your goals, thanks to following those routines!"
"It also uses less energy when you follow the routines as a habit, so you can accomplish more with less energy, leaving you more time and energy for other things that increase your pleasure in the journey itself."
Makes you think, doesn't it?
Routines are powerful and can improve your personal development and productivity.
I can attest to that fact.
I got to know about routines from a book caalled, "Habit Stacking" by SJ Scott.
It was last year and I was taking a break from social media.
I tried to stay consistent several times before then, nothing to show for it.
Until I realized, after reading the book, that good habits are critical to one's success in personal development
I just don't have it all figured out right now, I tell you π
It just feels like when I'm supposed to be taking things off my plate, I add more to it.
But I believe in the line of reasoning that say there's no perfect time to start something.
I might as well add them all now.
Then I learn from experiences, favourable or otherwise.
At the end, I can have a story to tell, a lesson to share.
All because of curiosity ✨
A nice way to end the post, right?
Thanks for reading, my friend π
