Mavin Beacons Taught Me Typing!
It's day 75 of documenting 2025.
Cheers to the new week!🍷
Sunday automatically means a new week has started.
So, I'm raising an imaginary glass of wine in hopes of a new week ahead.
Raise yours too!
Cheers!🥂
Okay, there are two things I want to relate.
The first, a realization.
The second, something exciting!
But first, let's do highlights.
The only book I will highlight today is the writing companion of this challenge.
None other than,
365 Days With Self-discipline!
If I don't read any other book, this one is a must-read.
My 365-day writing streak literally depends on it.
365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 Day 75: On Haters
"It’s a fact of life that when you do something worthwhile, you will have haters.
People will criticize you for everything and anything, for a variety of reasons."
"Giving in to hate and letting it get to you leads to rancor, a poison that can jeopardize your long-term goals."
"I’d love to share with you a secret, foolproof way to deal with haters, but in the end the only solution is the most obvious one — you ignore whatever insults and malice they throw at you and focus on yourself instead."
"Don’t let the negative individuals instill low self-esteem or doubt in you.
I’m sure you have good intentions and the ability to make your dreams come true."
"Shield yourself from negativity by surrounding yourself with the Light Side: other people pursuing their goals, empowering books, mentors, and visiting venues or participating in online communities that exhibit positive values."
No comments on this one 😌
The quotes speak for themselves.
I've never listened to haters or negative people, and I never intend to.
Sometimes, people confuse haters with those that want the best for them.
Or maybe the universal fact is, "anyone who tries to discourage you from chasing your dreams is a hater"
What do you think, my friend?
What's your take on haters?
Highlights done ✅
It's time for my long stories and over-the-top ramblings.
I said earlier that I wanted to relate two things.
So, I will try my best to use as much correct language as possible.
I will try my best to use good structure and coherent sentences.
I will try my best to......
"Just tell the story, Duon....be you"
Alright then....let's dive in!
(Where? I don't see a pool!) 😅
The first 🥇
I'm noticing a pattern.
Based on my sleep-wake cycle when it comes to this blog.
Let me explain.....
For the most part of this week, I missed the 4am alarm.
Maybe it's because I go to sleep when it's past 11pm.
But I will admit, I slept well when I don't wake up by 4am.
I also tried to schedule yesterday's post....which worked perfectly by the way!
It goes two ways.
It's either I sacrifice sleep to get the post out by morning,
And get tired by mid morning, when I should be working....
Or I find another way.
I'm thinking of another way.
Hear me out on this.....
I've discovered that I can schedule the posts for each day.
Which means I can type, format and schedule the post before morning the next day.
The only thing I have to do is wake up, get the link and post to my status and my Facebook page.
C'est fini!
How I can make it work this week:
First, I know that on average, it takes 1 hour and 40 minutes to type out the blog.
Second, the post itself is based on how my day went....so the best time to type is after I get back from the tutorial center by 7pm.
Third, with the JAMB exam drawing closer, I can't afford to keep waking up by 4am.
I prefer studying before I sleep.
And on the exam day itself, I can't wake up by 4am....I would need all the sleep I can get.
So, let's try something different this week and see how it goes.
This will mean a different schedule, different alarm, different routine.
But I believe I can adjust 😌
I will give an exclusive report by this time next week.
Wish me luck! 🤞🏼
Before I relate the second thing, I want to tell you something.
Based on what I learned this week.
"You will definitely make mistakes when dealing with people.
Take responsibility for what happened, learn from it and move on"
Now, the second 🥈
A friend from the tutorial center lent me her laptop for the week!
It's quite exciting for me because I'm trying to learn how to type.
At the tutorial center yesterday, I started my first official typing lesson with one of the computers.
It was an amazing software called, Mavin Beacons Teaches Typing.
I can call it a typing simulator.
It showed me the correct way to position my fingers on the keyboard.
It was time to type.
Fingers fidgeting, I placed them on the ASDF keys for the left hand and the JKL; keys for the right hand.
(the semi-colon key is the last one)
I did the lessons and tried not to look down at the keyboard.
I practiced for about 7 minutes before I was called for a class.
Let me rate my first day.
A 5 out of a 10.
I learned really fast with an accuracy of over 90% most of the time.
I'm slow, with a typing speed of 6 words per minute....but it's okay.
I think my fingers are getting used to the correct placement.
With my friend's laptop staying over for the week, I can practice more.
It's all part of the learning process.
I'm doing all this because I want to learn how to use a laptop,
Before I get my own laptop.
So it becomes easier for me to start working on it as a content writer and marketer.
All part of the goal, my friend 🎀
I hope your week went well.
I hope it was filled with lessons and realizations and good news.
Like mine....
We pray for a better week 🙏🏼
New opportunities, new blessings and new lessons.
It's how we grow, it's how we learn.
Keep up the good work ✨
Thanks for reading 😊
Thanks for getting to the end of this post, for never missing a day.
For even clicking the link to this post.
I'm encouraged to write everyday and share my journey with you.
If you're new here, welcome 🤗
I publish everyday but I'm not consistent with the exact time yet.
It could be early or late, like today.
I plan to change that by scheduling all my posts this week.
You can visit the main website to catch up on all my previous posts..
But I will warn you, they're probably going to be the most unusual blog post you'll read.
See you then 😉
Who am I?
I'm Duon Ada.
I'm documenting 2025.
And I'll see you tomorrow
Ciao 💕
