"Let's See What Happens!"

It's day 85 of documenting 2025.

I read today's entry.
And I was like,
"Yo! This is so me" 😄
Lately, I've been acting in several unusual ways to just "see what happens".
That's the foundation of my bold moves as well.

Before you think 🤔
"What's this girl talking about?"
Let's just get into today's highlights from the usual read.
I'll explain everything...so watch out for an unconventional perspective.

365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 Day 85: On Experimenting To See What Happens

"It often feels like everything is so serious — that if you make one mistake, it will all end in disaster. But really everything you do is just a test: an experiment to “see what happens”.
Quote by Derek Sivers

I started doing this from the beginning of this year.
The mentality was, "let's try it and see what happens".
And I've done so many things.... Achievements....or failed experiments...and lessons learned.

"I learned how to feel good in spite of failure when I adopted the “let’s see what happens” mentality.
Now, whenever I want to try something new that has an uncertain chance of success, I tell myself it’s an experiment.
I assume that whatever I invest in it, I invest it to gather data, and not necessarily to get a return."

Martin, the author really got me with this one.
This was the entry I talked about earlier that made me think,
"Yo! This is so me!"

Most times, before "experimenting",  I would think up ways to handle the situation if it goes wrong.
Like answering the question, "what next after this?"
At the end of the day, when it doesn't go right (which happens a lot...), I don't feel so bad.
I take note of what I learn....in order to apply it later.

In my opinion, it's sometimes better when what I'm doing as an experiment goes wrong.
(I know....I'm a piece of work! 😅)
If it goes right, I'll be like,
Yay! It worked!!
Then the excitement dies down in a heartbeat.
But when it goes wrong, I'll be like,
"Okay...kinda expected it...but what was the underlying cause?" 🤔
The curiosity keeps me engaged for a while...after which I draw out my observations.

"You can apply the same mentality to every other goal.
For example, if you’re afraid that you’ll fail to develop a habit of getting up early, consider it a 30-day experiment to see how waking up early will make you feel and whether you’ll be more productive."

Yeah, I applied this mentality a lot throughout the course of this blog.
It was here I mentioned trying out the "wake up early" plan.
It proved effective and now, I'm an early riser 😀
I'm more productive too, as I have the time to get prepared for the day.
Mine was a 7-day experiment.

"When you think of it this way, you ensure from the get-go that no matter how your experiment goes, it’s a success.
After all, you aren’t trying to make a permanent change: you only want to test a "hypothesis."

A 'hypothesis' usually leads to a lot of discoveries...even when you fail the first time.
About yourself, your habits and what might hinder you in any way.
Once you take note of all that, you can now try again.
This time, you're prepared to focus by avoiding and tackling the distractions.

"Usually, if the experiment goes well, it leads to a permanent change anyway, and that’s the purpose of adopting this different mindset: you’re breaking through the initial resistance by lowering your expectations, and you consequently eliminate the fear of failure."

I have gotten past my fear of failure by applying this mentality.
Lots of times.

When I see a new face I want to talk to, when I approach a friend to ask for a favor....even when I want to talk to my dad about a serious issue.
Yeah!...I get scared in those cases and the thought of, "let's see what happens", usually helps me make the first move 👣

I even tried something like that in my personal life.
There was a certain guy....
And I asked what he thought about being in a relationship with me.
It scared me to death when I sent the first message.
But then, he replied with full honesty and commended my boldness.
It's something most girls never do.

Newsflash 🚨
I just wanted to know what he thought, not ask him to be my boyfriend.
Besides, the guy has to ask the girl, right?
(Hmm...opinions from others on this one can fill a whole book 😏)

I also picked up a few cues, which I always do when I deal with people, online or in real life.
I note them, and move on....preparing my mind to act accordingly next time.
No judgement, no pressure.
Just observation 😌

Come to think of it, people face a lot behind the scenes....including me.
But we never wear problems on our face, just a smile, signifying the hope that things will get better.
A little bold wouldn't hurt to lighten the mood and make one feel better.
Lesson of the day: Be Kind.

More on trying to "see what happens", I'm trying a new trend this week.
In spirit of JAMB, and the fact that it's less than 30 days before it commences, I started leaving my smartphone at home.
Did it yesterday and the day before, so I'm calling it a trend.
Today as well, I'm not bringing it to the tutorial center....as well as my crochet stuff.

The aim is to minimize whatever will cause me to not to pay attention in class.
As well as enable that I do my private study, maybe when I have a free period.
I won't be too strict tho...
I can bring the crochet stuff on Fridays and Saturdays.
My phone? Maybe on special occasions.

Speaking of special occasions, a friend of mine is +1 today!
He was actually the first online friend I texted when I got my first smartphone.
I did it to "see what happens", and last year in December, we marked our first year as friends.
I call it our, "friendeversary" 😊
I have to admit, by being friends with him, I was able to learn how being a friend works.
And I'm applying all that till today.

Happy Birthday Kev! ☺️
I wish you wonderful memories and a new year of prosperity.
Nothing but the best will come your way, buddy.
Cheers to your new age 🥂
I hope you like the poem I wrote.
As well as the birthday song...
(It's for your eyes and ears only....no sharing here or elsewhere 😉)

Oh!...you're here as well, my friend
And you're reading all this...
Well...this may be awkward 😐
But it's another day added to my streak!
What's more amazing? We will soon get to the big 100!
Until then, keep reading.
