Can You Write A Note To "Future You"?

It's day 71 of documenting 2025.

My friend, this is one of those days.
When I'm like, "what am I going to write about?" 😱
I know, I know, there's the highlight section.
Then what else?

Do I write about how yesterday went?
Nothing interesting happened except seeing Dora.
You can read the post on how I met her, just head to the main site and look for the post with the name, "Dora".
She didn't come for most part of last week and it was nice to see her ☺️

Do I write about a former experience?
There's so many of them to think about, my brain will get overloaded.
I remember high school, life after high school and my turning year.
So far, it's been good, with a mixture of pleasant and unpleasant experiences.
(More of the pleasant ones, of course...)

Do I write about me?
Nothing much to say there....
I'm what most people would call boring at first glance.
But if you get to know the real me, I can be a little crazy....
Just a little 😄
Trust me, I know what I'm saying.

Hmm 🤔
Maybe I should write a note to future me.
A letter would be too long.....
And the person reading this may think it weird to write to my future self.
Do you think it's weird?
If yes, you should try it sometime.
If no, you could try it as well.

Dear future me,
I'm amazed with how confident you have become and how much you've achieved.
Your family and friends are lucky to have you.
Keep being unapologetically you.
The world needs a divine gift, and that's your name.
No matter how tough it gets, remember that you're loved and cherished by God.
More success is coming your way.
I believe so.
(With love 💕, Duon)

I couldn't help smiling as I typed.
I'll probably copy this on paper later ✍🏼
I can imagine where future me would be when she sees the note.
In her room, trying to rearrange the closet.
There's a party in a few days and the whole apartment needs a new touch.
So, she's starting from her room.
She's carries out a pile of old notes from the lower shelf in the tall closet.
Then a certain one falls out and she
picks it up.
She smiles as she flips through it.
"So many memories".
Then she sees the note.

Okay, I'll stop here.
It's either you think this is getting weird...
Or you think it's wild that I'm imagining my future.
Can I call myself complex at this point?
Maybe....but I'll just say I'm full of imaginations.
A few, I reject.
Some, I capture into words.
The others, I let them be.

That's all for now....let's do highlights.
So much for, "what am I going to write about?"
I just wrote something, didn't I?
Silly me 😏
I'm eccentric like that.

Okay okay...Highlights!
From books I read, of course
The usual is 365 Days With Self-discipline by Martin Meadows.
And Wednesday's read is SMART Goals Made Simple by S.J Scott.
What I do is, I read a page, chapter or section from the two...
I use a PDF reader, so it's easy to highlight the phrases or paragraphs that I share with you.

365 Days With Self-discipline
📚 Day 71: On Taking A Step Forward

"If you don’t ask, the answer’s always no. If you don’t step forward, you’re always in the same place."
Quote by Nora Roberts.

"even a rejection was still a valuable lesson I wouldn’t learn if I chose inaction."

"Likewise, many people hesitate to start working on their goals out of a fear of failure or self-doubt.
They fail to realize that if they don’t a take a step forward, they’ll be in the same place.
Even if they take an unsuccessful step forward and need to backtrack, they’d still gain some experience. There’s nothing to lose, and potentially a lot to gain."

"Are there any goals you’d like to pursue, but are afraid that you’ll embarrass yourself or fail?
Have you ever considered that not acting on them leads to sure-fire failure, while an attempt gives you at least a small chance of success and a 100% chance of learning something new?"

I didn't add my thoughts below each quote like I did in the last two posts.
Reason is, I think they're already thoughts of their own.
And they definitely taught you something.
(Thought....taught....wordplay 😁)

SMART Goals Made Simple
📚 Step 2: Create A Life List

"The people who consistently achieve their goals understand the relationship between motivation and accomplishment.
Instead of setting arbitrary outcomes, they can clearly describe what they desire and then use this information to spur themselves into action."

"It might sound trite, but the simplest way to identify what you want is to imagine your future self lying on your deathbed."

"The "death bed analogy” is the simplest way to know what’s really important and that will ultimately be a waste of your time.
The items you write down from this experience will become your “life list” (or bucket list)."

"There’s a lot that can go into a life list.
Everything comes down to your
perspective and experiences.
So it makes sense to only include the items that are personally significant."

"Like goals, a life list shouldn’t focus on one part of your life (like your career).
Instead, it should help you become a balanced person. That means it’s important to include all seven areas of goal setting."

I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions on the paragraphs you just read.
What I think?
Well, I haven't thought of it that way before....
Don't have a life list either.
Wait a minute....I do!
It's more like a list of things I would like to accomplish.
I certainly didn't imagine myself on the deathbed.

How about you, my friend?
Do you have a bucket list?
Goals list?
If yes, that's nice 🙂
If no, I think you should try writing one.
It's nice to imagine what you can accomplish in the future.

Thanks for reading, my friend 🎀
It's the end of today's post and you stayed till now.
Thank you for encouraging me to write more.
If you're new here, thanks for clicking the link that sent you here.
If you're not, thanks for never missing any of my posts.

I go by many names.....
But here, I'm Duon Ada.
An unusual writer on a 365 day challenge.
I'm documenting 2025.
And I hope to see you tomorrow.
Ciao 💕
