Can I Be Laser-Focused This Week?

It's day 82 of documenting 2025.

Happy Sunday, my friend 😊
I believe you're either with family, or friends resting up for the new week.
Or you're chilling solo.....

Anyhow it is, cheers to the new week!
I hope it's better and more prosperous for us all!
Raise your imaginary glass of wine and join me in a toast!......Cheers! 🥂

I read the entry for today, then realized something.
I may be doing a bit too much.
My closest friend gave me a piece of advice yesterday...
He was like,
"Prioritize your JAMB studies".
And I didn't really get it....until now.
I'll explain when I share the quote from today's read.

But now, a confession....
The book by Anthony Robbins, Awaken The Giant Within is becoming hard to understand 😐
Or it's just me thinking so....
The book is Monday's read.
And I promised to share some quotes from it yesterday....cos I didn't do so last week Monday.
I was trying so hard to get parts from the section that I could share as quotes.
Nothing!

Maybe I should just pick another book...
What if I mix things up a little?
Hear me out, my friend
I could just focus on a book per week!
Maybe this new week could be the book by Mel Robbins...
And the next could be the one by S.J Scott...
And so on.

It's a good idea 🤔
What do you think about this?
I like the option of different ideas from different books.
"One can learn better if he or she is dealing with one book than with several books."
Says the counter opinion, which I'm starting to tune into.
Or maybe it's a matter of adaptation and balance ⚖️

When the situation calls for it, you try something different.
Like what I did with my typing period....when I shifted from early in the morning to nighttime.
By the way, scheduling the posts have been helpful so far.
I save more time and energy....which I spend on setting myself up for the new day.

Well that's it!
I'll try the "one-book-per-week" highlights and see how it works out.
I can never know until I try it, right?
But it starts tomorrow 😉.

Highlight time! 🙌🏼
We're doing the usual read only....
Reasons why?
Read the paragraphs before this one.. you'll probably understand 🙂
So, the usual read is 365 Days With Self-discipline.
It's the book I usually read before typing any post.
If I don't read any other book, this one is a must-read for me.
My 365 day writing streak literally depends on it.

365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 Day 82: On Extreme Focus

"Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life — think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone.
This is the way to success."
Quote by Swami Vivekananda

So, I just realized something.
I've been adding more to my plate instead of taking stuff out.
There's work and crochet and the new Whatsapp channel and this blog....not to mention, studies.
But the most important of all these are just two....
Passing JAMB and keeping my writing streak alive 🔥

"......limiting your focus to a single thing requires a great deal of self-discipline, which subsequently makes it an excellent exercise in cultivating self-control."

I'm not saying I won't do the other activities...
But for one, the JAMB exam is not forever.
Before May, I would know if I'm eligible for admission or not.
The other things will still be there...but the exam comes once a year.
So, why not go all in?
(PK would probably be like, "yeah!....she's getting it! 😄)

"The second benefit of extreme focus is that by centering your life around the one most important endeavor, you’ll be more likely to reach it than if you were to spread your attention thin."

I'm a real culprit of this 😅
Spreading my attention thin.
The notion of "multitasking" has been so ingrained into me that most times, I end up unhappy with how I spent my time.
But this time, for the sake of passing my exam, I'm going to have to lay off some things....
Just until after I come out of the exam hall with a wide smile on my face:)

"If self-discipline is a resource that you can deplete (scientists are still trying to figure it out), it makes sense to spend it judiciously, starting with your most important goal."

Maybe I can arrange the tasks and then spend more time on the most important goals.
Sounds great 👍🏼
I'll draw up a table if I have to.
Get the plan down...
There's still a month left before the exam....and I have to study harder.

Yesterday, at the tutorial center,  there was a test for all students.
I wasn't particularly scared.
Some questions were a bit tough...but l did my best.
JAMB is a lot tougher than the test....which is why I have to focus on the four subjects I will be doing that day.
And managing my time is another skill that will prove helpful in the exam hall.
See Duon? 😏
There's a lot to learn!

That's all for today's post, my friend.
It's time for the closing speech and paragraphs.
You probably know how the words go....or maybe not
Here it goes:

Thanks for reading, my friend 😊
Thanks for taking time to read through and make sense of my words....
(which may be non-sense!)
I'm on this journey and living each day, one post at a time.
Visit the main site here.

I'm Duon Ada.
I'm documenting 2025.
And I'll see you tomorrow
Ciao 💕
