Giving Up X?
It's day 323 of documenting 2025.
42 days to 2026!
Okay, today was a pretty quiet day.
Not much scenes but in all, I would just say I thank God for today.
In class, one of our lecturers elaborated on some of my duties as course rep, and I was just like,
"Yes ma...thank you ma".
I dozed off during our last lecture.
The one that started from 2pm and lasted till 4pm.
I just thank God that the lecturer didn't call me out, because I'm pretty sure that he caught me dozing off at least once.
At a certain point, he exclaimed, "pay attention!"
Anyways, after the lecture...I got down everyone's names and then made sure the class was swept before leaving with some friends.
I got home and rested for a while before proceeding to wash my shirt.
After washing my shirt, I prayed in respect of breaking my Wednesday fast before fetching and storing water.
That's pretty much how my day went.
I told you it wasn't that exciting.
Well, maybe today's highlights might be a bit interesting.
Let's see...
365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 On Prolonged Sitting
"Because a dramatic reduction in energy expenditure was not accompanied by reduced appetite, prolonged sitting may promote excess energy intake, leading to weight gain in both men and women."
Quote by Kirsten Granados
Research shows that even though there’s a dramatic reduction in energy expenditure when we sit, our appetites don’t drop down accordingly.
This means that the more time you spend sitting, the more of a caloric surplus you create, and you gain weight more easily.
This poses a big problem for self-discipline because no amount of self-control will help you lose weight if you don’t expend much energy but your appetite behaves as if you did.
If you sit at work, consider standing up for at least a period of time when working.
Stand-up desks are getting more and more popular, so it might be worth it to consider buying one or building it yourself.
If it’s not possible to work standing up, at least get up every now and then and perform some quick exercises to offset some of the negative consequences of sitting.
At home, one of the biggest offenders is mindlessly watching TV. You can greatly reduce the amount of time spent sitting by eliminating cable TV and only watching specific movies or TV shows.
Channel-hopping puts you in a zombie-like state, which, when combined with snacking, can make it almost impossible
to ever get in shape.
Think of sitting as a debt you need to repay. Fortunately, you can repay the
debt not only with actual exercise, but also with little actions: standing up in the
kitchen, performing household chores, taking the stairs instead of the elevator,
parking a little bit farther away from the entrance to the supermarket.
Strive to move as much as you can, and you’ll reduce the negative impact
prolonged sitting has on your well-being and increase your chances of
successfully shedding that belly fat.
Oh! We're talking about belly fat here 😮
I have built the habit of not sitting for prolonged periods.
Now that lectures are for 2 hours....I always stand up after the class is over....just to stretch my legs.
And when someone asks, I'll be like, "I don't like sitting down for too long"
But then, standing for prolonged periods can also be another form of torment....I tell you 😅
I've also formed the habit of walking around for a bit after eating. To make it easier for the food to digest well, I guess.
Ain't such a bad habit, yeah?
More thoughts....
I feel like with each passing day, things are getting more overwhelming, to the point of me forgetting to do some vital things.
I haven't really learned effective time management in this school setting.
Somehow, I feel like I want to learn through experiences and from mistakes.
Why? I feel like those teach better.
Let's see if I'm right or not.
And today, I cleared my old schedule.
I also gave up X and my Habit app.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I would just say it's pretty dumb.
I just feel like my attention is being divided to too many things, and I'm trying to take out things that are not as important in my priority list.
See who's talking 😒
(She doesn't even have a priority list)
Oh! Don't mind me...
I'm just trying to make this post a bit longer.
Jokes apart, that's how I really feel.
It's all part of learning and adjusting.
I believe so 😌
And with time, things will get easier.
I'm hoping to God for that.
Okay, no more thoughts to share.
I guess that would be all for today's documentation.
Thanks so much for reading 🎀
My website is already loaded with documentations of memorable things that happened this year...and it would be nice to read it all someday.
PS. I'm not trying to point out the fact that I don't read my own posts.
See you in the next post 💜
