First Week As Course Rep
It's day 320 of documenting 2025.
45 days to 2026!
Today was a good Sunday 😌
It started with service in the morning, during which I dozed off occasionally.
Oops! I did it again!
But it wasn't like the former time, when someone had to wake me up.
I guess the dozing factor is decreasing.
I got back to the hostel and ate my first meal of the day.
Bread and butter with groundnuts.
Then ended with 3 oranges 🍊
Pretty okay.
Sometime later, I fell asleep and woke up to someone calling me.
It was a coursemate who borrowed my note from class. She came to the hostel to get her shirt from me as well as to return my note. I helped her get it yesterday on a delivery.
After seeing her off, I went upstairs and changed from my Sunday dress, which I still had on.
Then I went to help my roommate as she cooked and it was wonderful to discuss lessons from scripture and share stories.
Later on, I called my dad and we talked for a while. As always, it was a wonderful time spent on the call.
Then much much later, I resolved to finish up research notes. 2 hours later, I did.
Well, that's pretty much how my day went.
I'll share today's highlights and then a few thoughts afterwards. Let's see how it goes.
365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 On Change as a Cold Bath
"A great change in life is like a cold bath in winter — we all hesitate at the first plunge."
Quote by Letitia Elizabeth Landon
Hesitation is normal when you face a big change in life. After all, you’re facing the unknown, and what’s unknown is scary.
In the end, though, the longer you stare into the abyss, the more frightening it appears, and the more difficult it is to jump into it.
For this reason, it might be useful to think of a great change as being similar to taking a cold bath — the less time you give yourself to worry about how cold
it might be, the more likely you are to actually jump into it.
For example, instead of wondering how tiring and uncomfortable it will be to go running, just put on your sports shoes and get out of the house.
The more time you spend meditating on how unpleasant it might possibly be, the more likely it is that hesitation will kill any remnants of willpower you still have inside of you.
When decluttering your house, the same strategy can help you resist the
temptation to keep things out of sentiment.
Some old items are indeed so valuable that it might be worth it to keep them, but more often than not, people who tend to accumulate things use this rationalization for every piece of junk.
Give yourself three seconds. During those three seconds, if you can’t come up with any powerful memory that the item gives you, throw it away.
If you need to make a difficult phone call or have an uncomfortable conversation, hesitation will make it even scarier.
By taking the plunge as quickly as possible, you’ll prevent your anxiety from growing and probably
resolve the situation more effectively than if you were to wait.
How I will sum this up:
JUST DO IT.
No matter how scary it may feel, hesitation will make it worse.
That's how I'm going to put it 😌
Well, any more thoughts I would like to share?
Probably the fact that this week is going to be my first week as an official course rep.
First week of duty.
Let's see how it goes.
I've talked to Jesus and I'm always asking Him for wisdom to serve.
Even my dad confirmed it when he called this evening. He was like,
"You're to ask God for wisdom to serve in this leadership position".
It's already one of my several constant prayers.
Let's end this on a positive note.
I hope for a great week ahead.
By God's grace, all will go well 🙏
I guess that would be all for today's documentation.
Thanks for reading 🎀
You can always check out former posts...and it's quite hard to believe that 2026 will be over soon!
By the way, my website is called Documenting 2025.
All these posts that I have written so far, will be for a keepsake.
I believe it will become a book one day. In the meantime, it's all separate posts for now.
See you in the next post 💜
