Last Week In August

It's day 237 of documenting 2025.

Today's a late Monday post.
I slept through the afternoon and woke up this evening, fully prepared to type the post I should have typed earlier today.
Time? 7:51pm
So yeah, it's a late Monday post.

It's a new week...and the very last one in August.
By Sunday, we would be saying goodbye to another month in 2025.
This time, I won't actually say, "time flies".
For me, this year didn't actually go too fast. It just flowed, like a stream.
The stream of time

In my little corner of the internet, I'm still learning to trust God more than I trust people.
And things won't always go my way, and I'm learning to accept that.
Hmm 🤔
I think we'll do verses today...
But first, let's do Highlights.

365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 On Shifting Responsibility to Others

Many seek to avoid the pain of their problems by saying,
“This problem was caused me by other people, or by circumstances beyond my control, and therefore it is up to other people or society to solve this problem for me.”
Quote by M. Scott Peck

I have a friend who’s often late. When confronted about his tardiness, he says, “When I was a child, my parents were always late to pick me up at school, so I learned it from them.”

This way, he conveniently shifts the responsibility for the problem to his parents. It’s no longer his lack of self-discipline to leave ten minutes early: it’s his parents who were late (decades ago), so now he’s late for his appointments, too.

You can often notice similar sentiments among people looking for a job. It’s not their job to find employment — it’s the government that should do something about it, as if the government could create jobs out of thin air.

While those people wait for somebody else to fix their problems, other job seekers take additional training, volunteer, or start small businesses, knowing that even if the economic situation in the country is beyond their control, it’s within their control to do something that can increase their chances of getting a job.

Do you have any problems in your life that you think were caused by other people and therefore you don’t accept that it’s your responsibility to fix them?

What do you think? What are your chances of ever solving them if you deny that it’s within your control to do something about them?

So, I shared the whole note today and here, the author, Martin Meadows is giving illustrations to make his point.
And I think the point is,
"Take full responsibility for your actions and results".
You can't make an impact on others if you don't make an impact.

Speaking of impact, I want to share some Bible verses that are making an impact in my life.
I'm not staring at my notes, I'm typing them from memory...because I'll also share what they mean to me.
So, here goes:

"What is man, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest him?
Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hand, and hast put all things under his feet"

This one is pretty long 😄
It's from Psalms 8:4-6.
And this one reminds me of how God sees his children.
The thing is, most people don't realize their importance in God's eyes, especially Christians.

Ecclesiastes 12:1
"Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh when thou shall say, I have no pleasure in them"

Key word here: Youth.
Living for Jesus in our young years is what is expected of us....me included.
And we're to remember our Creator, the greatest God that made us exist to accomplish a purpose on this earth.

Matthew 5:44
"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you".

This is Christian living 101.
Sadly, most of us ignore this word from Jesus Himself.
As for me, there were times when I wasn't at peace with certain people, most especially because I wasn't at peace with myself.

But I believe that when the time calls for it, I won't ignore this rule.
Sometimes, I forget....and that's why I started memorizing scripture.

Joshua 1:9
"Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage. Be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed, for the Lord thy God is with thee withersoever thou goest"

Pardon the fact that it's not clear English. I'm memorizing the King James Version.
And this particular verse makes up part of my daily affirmations.
"I am strong and courageous because God is with me".

One more....or maybe two 🙂

Romans 12:21
"Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good".

I really understood the meaning of this verse the day I did something bad, after memorizing the same verse.
The shame and guilt took over, but then I realized that what I had to do was the next right thing.

I returned, I prayed and instantly felt much better. I didn't run or hide, neither did I stop doing the good. And this moves me to the last verse I want to share.

John 15:7
"If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will and it shall be done unto you"

Here, 'abide' means to continue.
Jesus Christ said we should continue in him....and in his ways, even when it's hard.
The moments when you feel like a failure before God are when you should seek him the most.

Don't stop because you feel like, "what's the point?"...there's still hope for you.
You can probably tell that I'm speaking from experience....because I am.

I finally understood all this at the darkest moments of my life.
And I'm learning to acknowledge Him in all my doings.
It's a work in progress 😄

Well, I hope you learned something from these verses....and you can always find more in the Bible.
And if you don't know how to study it, ask God to help you.
He's right there with you.

Thanks for reading 🎀
(I'm probably going to be the first to read this post...that is, after I publish).
The streak is still alive 🔥
Next milestone: Day 250
