Getting Comfortable With Boring

It's day 231 of documenting 2025.

What a day! 😏
I spent most of the afternoon sleeping, not even knowing how tired I was.
Now, I'm awake by 5:45pm, just typing today's post.
No matter, the streak is still alive 🔥

I realized something....after thinking that I should promote the posts here more often.
I realized two things actually,
First is, when you've disconnected from certain people, expect them to not care anymore about what you do.
Second is, sometimes you just have to prove to yourself that you can keep going even if nothing's working.

Yesterday, I saw a post on X from Russell Brunson, one of the world's most efficient online marketers.
And in his post he said and I quote,
"Sometimes, entrepreneurship asks if you're willing to continue even when nothing is working".

My reply to the post went along the lines of,
"If the answer is yes, then you're fit for entrepreneurship. And if the answer is no, maybe you're to try something else"
Yeah...something like that 😏

Anyways, I'm rethinking why I started this blog in the first place.
For something bigger than myself.
I started to prove to myself that I could write for 365 days, and along the line, I got a sign that my story could become a book one day.
That sign alone kept me going when I didn't care about keeping a streak anymore.

Now, I'm still in this....writing when nobody cares to read.
Why?
It's definitely something else.
Something I didn't realize until now.
Behind the scenes, I'm getting prepared for something much better.
Something bigger than myself.

Right now, no one is reading.
But that's it!
I'm still going despite no one caring.
If I can apply this persistence to what's coming, I will definitely succeed.
It's not just about me right now, it's about future me.

But hey, I'm documenting...
That counts for something, right?
I'll keep writing ✍🏼
And on the last day of this year, I can boast that I stuck to something for a whole year!
Then next year, I'll start something else that I can stick to.
Success 101 says,
"Get comfortable with boring. Do it repeatedly. Don't stop until after a year. See where it takes you."
#Duonsays 😄

Alright, Alright....
Let's get into the highlights for today, and then I'll share a poem or two from the poetry collection I've been talking about.

365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 On Minimizing What You Need

"A man is rich in proportion to the number of things which he can afford to let alone."
Quote by Henry David Thoreau

Thoreau was a big proponent of simplicity, particularly when it comes to material possessions.
We can extend his maxim to living a successful life in general, namely that a human is strong in proportion to the number of things which he or she can let alone.

If you can still manage to achieve your goals despite not having the right resources, then ultimately you’ll become a stronger and more capable person than an individual who has never gone without them.

Kenyan javelin-thrower Julius Yego won the gold medal at the World
Championships in Beijing.
There would be nothing particularly interesting in this story except that he learned how to perfect his technique without a coach, and instead learned from YouTube videos.

Achieving such a feat without all
of the resources that world-class javelin-throwers usually have demonstrates how capable and determined Yego is as an athlete.
Does it mean that you should deliberately reject the resources you have at your disposal? Not really.

Look at it more as encouragement that, even if you don’t have the best tools available, you can still make it big.
In addition to that, practice your mental strength by sometimes deliberately going without something you need.

For example, I sometimes climb with a blindfold on. Without being able to see the next handhold or foothold, the sense of touch heightens, and it serves as a
valuable exercise in improving precision when climbing.

You can apply it in many other areas of your life: sleep on the bare floor for a few days to discover that you can still get a good night’s rest once you get used to it, exercise without any equipment whatsoever, or try to learn a new skill by
figuring it out by yourself instead of immediately looking for a coach or teacher.

PS. I shared the whole note...again.
And the author is a rock climber....hence the example of climbing without a blindfold.
Pretty cool 😎
And yeah, the lesson remains:
If you're able to achieve your goal with limited resources, then you'll be more capable than those with lots of "tools".

Speaking of tools, there's a tool I started using a few months back, but then I stopped.
Few weeks ago....more few days ago, I started using it again.
It's an amazing text-to-speech reader called Elevenlabs.

Then, it was totally free, no plans.
But now, it has the super and ultra plans...but the free version gives you 12 hours of listening per week, which refreshes every Sunday
Pretty good if you ask me 🤓

It's kinda like Leonardo AI, that gives you 500 credits (or is it less than that? 🤔), and it refreshes every day.
That makes it free for those who don't rely heavily on AI pictures.
(Like me...)

Okay, where was I?
I was about to share some poems from my soul-speak poetry collection.
Lemme do that before I continue blabbing about tools...

Ashes and Breath

You could leave life right now.
Not tomorrow, not years from now
but now.
Let that sharpen what you do,
how you speak,
what you dare to think.

If God watches,
He has not set you here to fear.
He has placed every tool you need
to remain whole
within the walls of your own soul.

And if death calls,
what of it?
Death cannot touch your character.
It cannot stain the fire inside you.
It only folds you back into the rhythm of nature,
as the sea returns to the sea.

Look closer.
The things that tempt and terrify you
riches, pleasure, praise
how quickly they rot.
How small they are when held up to eternity.
Even fame is just a fragile whisper,
carried by mouths that will one day be dust.

So, why be afraid?
Why live as if the hourglass won’t shatter?
Breathe, act, love,
as if every breath were your final offering.

Something to think about
If this were my last day alive, what would I stop worrying about….and what would I give my whole heart to?

As you ponder that, let me share another one 😌

The Present Is All

Nothing is sadder
than the soul that spins in circles,
chasing shadows
and prying into the hearts of others,
while forgetting its own.

Your first task
is to tend the fire within
to keep it pure,
unclouded by turmoil,
steady in both love and reverence.

Respect what is divine, for it is good.
Love what is human, for it is like you
and pity its blindness,
when it stumbles,
unable to see what’s right in front of it.

Even if you lived
a thousand years more,
or ten times that,
you would still have only this moment.

You cannot lose the past,
for it is already gone.
You cannot lose the future,
for it is not yet yours.
All you can lose is this breath
this fragile, fleeting now.

The longest life and the shortest one
surrender the same thing:
the present.
That is all there is,
and all there ever will be.

Something to think about
What would change if I treated the present moment as my only true possession?

Now you have two things to think about.
Not heavily, just a slight reflection.
About today being your last....and cherishing this very moment.
I'm sure there's a lot you'll be thankful for.

Well, I'm thankful that you read this post today.
Thanks for reading 🎀
