You Know Beautiful Things?

It's day 3 of documenting 2025.

I have a lot to say but I have to start from somewhere.

Maybe I should start from the song I kept playing on repeat last night.

Or from the joy I felt when I reconnected with an old friend of mine.

Or my notes....

It's a lot, Ami (Who's Ami? You!)

Okay, let me start from my friend. She got my contact through a close friend of mine and it was all smiles, stories and pleasantries as we spoke on call.

A lot can really change in 5 years!
But it's not where we are right now that matters, it's where we're going to be.

And she said something.
Something that made me think.
She said something along the lines of
'I respect your courage'.
It was that word. Courage.

It brought to mind a quote from Mark Twain:
"Courage is the resistance to fear, mastery of fear; not absence of fear".

I can't tell you how many times I've been afraid of doing the things I accomplished...or how many times I thought of what could go wrong.
But I went on anyways. Day by day.

Courage is a beautiful thing, right?

I will tell you this: Just do it.
Whatever you know will move you in the right direction, do it.
At that moment when you feel the most scared.
If you win, you'll feel great.
If you lose....
You know what? You don't actually lose, you learn lessons that will serve you in the future.

About my notes...
I didn't finish the chapter last night 😐 (twas quite long!)
But I took down some things as I reflected on the parts I read.

So the chapter was titled, "Decisions: The Pathway To Power".
A relevant paragraph highlighted the fact that ten years from now, we will surely arrive.
The question is "where?"
Who will we have become?
How will we live?
What will we contribute?
Now is the time to design the next ten years of our lives, not once they're over.

"If we want to direct our lives, we must direct our lives, we must take control of our consistent actions.
It's not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, but what we do consistently".

To my understanding, the power of decision is the father of action.

I quote (from the book):
"Everything that happens in your life, both what you're thrilled with and what you're challenged by, begin with a decision".

"If you don't set a baseline standard for what you'll accept in your life, you'll find it's easy to slip into behaviours and attitudes or a quality of life that's far below what you deserve.
You need to set and live by these standards, no matter what happens in your life".

ThisπŸ‘†opened up my mind to some things that happen in my life.
Well, that was where I stopped.

About that song I kept playing on repeat last night, it was none other than....

(Drum roll, please.....πŸ₯)

Beautiful things by Benson Boone.
Do you know the song?
Yes, absolutely?
Not really?

The song gets me everytime πŸ˜„

Especially the part that says,
"Please! Stay!
I want you, I need you, oh God
Don't! Take!
These beautiful things that I've got"

Thanks, Ami....for reading this till the end. See you tomorrow.
