How Long Does Mastery Take?
It's day 8 of documenting 2025.
And it's a Wednesday feeling like a Saturday (just me saying!)
Besides, it's that time of the month for me and I'm handling the cramps like a queen.
Hope it's all good where you are, Ami ๐
Can I tell you something?
You may have probably noticed it...or not.
Here it goes: I don't edit my posts.
The posts here, on this blog.
I just type on my Gboard which basically makes corrections as I type.
There may be no spelling errors.
But grammar?
Pardon me.... I'm just sharing my thoughts and documenting.
It doesn't have to be perfect; it just has to be.
I did something I haven't done before.
For the first time in ever, I talked on camera while walking!
Huh? ๐คจ
You may think.... what's she talking about?
Let me explain.
Last year, I did a lot of experimenting with the three main kinds of content.
Written content is kinda my thing....
Not video or audio.
And I've thought of starting a YouTube channel and starting a podcast....
(Baby steps, Duon ๐)
I filmed myself sitting and talking about anything that I could think of.
I remember, there was a particular video where I encouraged anyone watching to not give up on their goals.
I later sent it to a friend I met online and she thanked me later.
I also started audio at the ending of last year and even added audio recordings to the blueprint I created.
I'm still practicing how to sound right, how to look right and how to communicate right.
None of the audios or videos I've made are perfect.
I don't even edit them ๐
But I know that if I keep creating, I will master content creation.
Well, on my notes for today....
I'm reading the book, Awaken The Giant Within.
It's written by Anthony Robbins, who I like to call Tony.
I'm still on the second chapter (almost at the end) which is divided into sections by quotes from notable people.
And the quote that started the section I read goes like this:
"I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward"
Thomas Edison.
When it comes to exploring the digital landscape, I live by this quote.
Whenever I come across this quote, a smile always appears on my face.
I hope this reminds you to keep going as well.
In the section I read, Tony talked about another barrier to utilizing the power of decision.
And that is,
The fear of making the wrong decisions.
Tony said (in his own words):
"I know I certainly haven't made all the right decisions along the way. Far from it. But I didn't expect to.
Nor will I always make the right decisions in the future.
I have determined that no matter what decisions I make, I'll be flexible, look at the consequences, learn from them and use these lessons to make better decisions in the future."
I think I should make this whole paragraph my mantra ๐ค
It's concise and uplifting.
Tony also stated that we must commit to learning from our mistakes, rather than beating ourselves up or we're destined to make the same mistakes again in the future.
I'm committed.
Are you?
Here's another note I took that sounded interesting:
Mastery takes as long as you want it to take.
Tony was relating to the fact that taking action three times a day will give you more experience than doing so once a month.
Food for thought ๐ญ
Don't you think?
I quote (from the book):
"No matter how prepared you are, one thing is guaranteed; if you're on the river of life, it's likely you're going to hit a few rocks".
Not being negative, being accurate.
"Instead of beating yourself up for being such a 'failure', remember that there are no failures in life.
Only results.
If you don't get the results you wanted, learn from this experience so that you have references about how to make better decisions in the future".
That's all for today's notes, Ami ๐
Thanks for reading to the end.
I'm Duon Ada and I'm documenting 2025.
