When Apps Let You Down...

It's day 161 of documenting 2025.

"You won't figure out certain things about yourself if not for that decision to commit."
Quote by Duon 💜

Just decided to put it out there.
I realized that today.
I'm really flunking in some areas of my life but I'm learning as well.
And one thing I usually do, is to try not to make the same mistakes as the previous day.

Speaking of the previous day...
PK, my close friend called.
I hadn't messaged him for 5 days due to my workload and the need to finish up pending work.
Twas worth it tho...
It was like chatted two days ago 😄

Brings to mind a particular expression.
I was watching an actor from Nigeria in one of his TikTok videos, when he said it.
How does it go again?
"Friends don't have to message or see each other everyday. They know the camaraderie is there...and when they eventually see each other, it's a wonderful and memorable moment"
Not exactly his words...just paraphrasing.
But you get the idea 😌

So, it's Tuesday.
And I'm typing by 1:44pm.
Late again!
But I have a valid excuse...
Hear me out:

ChatGPT stopped working on my phone.
That was last night.
I updated, reinstalled, closed the app, but it still wouldn't work.
Same thing happened this morning.

Like that wasn't enough, my Drive stopped working as well.
Then a nasty notification started popping up on my screen. Constantly.
"Google Framework Services has stopped working"

I was alarmed 😳
I deleted Google Drive and tried to reinstall it again.
It didn't work.

It was 30 minutes to a session I had on WhatsApp.
Then the green app stopped.
Panic mode was activated 😨
What do I do?

Then I remembered that my phone was on throughout the night.
I didn't switch it off for its own rest...while I had my own rest.
(Selfish much? 😒)
I decided to restart it.

Minutes later, it seemed everything was working well again.
I checked Gmail, which wasn't working before the restart.
It worked!

And I usually read the daily books using Google Drive's PDF reader, that's why I was alarmed.
Anyways, I downloaded it and it worked as well
What a relief! 😮‍💨
We can see today's highlights now.

📌 On Addressing The Real Mistakes

"When expert putters miss, they don’t say, "I am a terrible putter.”
They say, "I picked the wrong target.”

Quote by John Eliot

"Proclaiming that you suck simply because you made a mistake is not only being unfair to yourself.
You also rob yourself of the opportunity to improve, and increase the risk of developing learned helplessness."

"Learning can’t happen if you believe that improvement is beyond your control. Yet, that’s precisely what you’re doing when you’re pointing the finger at yourself instead of at a specific action that you took."

"Do what expert putters do.
Instead of wrongly criticizing yourself , address the real mistakes in the form of specific actions you took that didn’t result in the desired outcome."

In my words 👇
You don't suck at whatever.
Specific actions do.
You can always change and improve your course of action.

That's for highlights.
Gosh!
It's past 3pm already and I'm not done with typing.
It's a madhouse where I am...
So many interruptions and tasks that require my attention.
But we're getting to the end...
Just a few things I want to add.

I want to start a new series.
Since I'm now reading, "Meditations" by Marcus Aurelius, I would like to share quotes and thoughts on the book as well.
I thought of a name for this section.
First thought: Aurelius Series.

Then I was like, nah...
Sounds weird, right?
How about I just call it "Insights From Meditations?"
Nope...too long.

Hmm 🤔
Okay, how about, "Meditations?"
Same with the book's title...but it's a good fit.
I would share a quote I find interesting, and share my thoughts.
Or make you think...

Like this one I read just now...
It's pretty long, and each of the "meditations" in the book are numbered.
This particular one is from book 2.
I guess the book is also a collection of books 📚

1. When you wake up in the morning, tell yourself: The people I deal with today will be meddling, ungrateful, arrogant, dishonest, jealous, and surly.
They are like this because they can’t tell good from evil.

But I have seen the beauty of good, and the ugliness of evil, and have recognized that the wrongdoer has a nature related to my own—not of the same blood or birth, but the same mind, and possessing a share of the divine.

And so none of them can hurt me. No one can implicate me in ugliness. Nor can I feel angry at my relative, or hate him.
We were born to work together like feet, hands, and eyes, like the two rows of teeth, upper and lower. To obstruct each other is unnatural. To feel anger at someone, to turn your back on him: these are obstructions.

So, here's what I think...
Marcus was trying to say that we are all similar in our biological and spiritual parts and sometimes we can be cruel to each other.
But we don't have to reciprocate the wrong done to us 😌

You can reflect on this as well...and share your thoughts in the comments.
But I would also need your response on the blog survey.
It's just seven questions asking to know what you think about the blog.
I won't collect your email or any of your contact info.
And it will take less than 3 minutes.

Okay, that's about it!
This is where today's post ends.
I'll try to type early tomorrow...or schedule the post.
Let's see how it goes.

Thanks for reading, my friend ☺️
I appreciate you showing up here.
As well as reading yesterday's late post.
If you're new here and you want to catch up on former posts, kindly visit Documenting 2025.
I'll see you there 😉

My closing lines as follows:
I'm Duon Ada.
I'm documenting 2025,
And I'll see you tomorrow.
Ciao 💕
