"The Gardener Of Glass"

It's day 154 of documenting 2025

Today, we'll talk poetry.
But before that, I want to mention something I've noticed.
Can you guess?

Maybe not...
Well, it goes like this:
I haven't been sharing how my day went....in former posts.
It usually skips my mind.
And boy!...a lot has been happening.

Let's start with yesterday.
I was so frustrated with the behavior of the students in my class.
It was the first day of their test, yesterday.
Today is the second.

Anyways, what happened was that I set a timer for their test.
10 minutes.
They complained that they were not usually timed in their tests before.
"That's them", I said.
After 10 minutes, they grumbled as I collected their test books.
I kept a straight face.

Later on, a student came in, saying he was sent home by the administrator of the school.
I also gave him 10 minutes.
As he was writing, the administrator came in and asked how many minutes I gave them for the test.
Upon hearing "10 minutes", she immediately scolded me, telling me that 10 minutes was too small for a test.

What!...too small?
For just 10 freaking questions?
I didn't say that out loud...but I was fuming inside.
She told me to give them back the test books and give them more time.
The students jubilated and indirectly sneered at me.
"Didn't we tell her?", I heard one of them say.

I felt embarrassed...almost to the point of tears.
I controlled myself in time.
As I stood watching them whisper answers to themselves.
What the administrator said before leaving rang in my ears.
"Let them not say that it's the teacher that made them to fail...we don't want to hear complains".

Really?
That's how it is now?
No more seriousness among the students...
And the school encourages it?
This is how the corruption starts.

Wasn't it a few days ago that I heard about the malpractice in the English paper of the SSCE exams?
The students were even bold enough to post it on TikTok.
The education system is crying for help at this point.
That's what I think.

I was able to calm down by break time.
A 20-minute nap on my table was good enough to do the trick.
I felt better instantly.
It's just how things are now, and I just have to accept it.
And guess what?
After all that drama, some still didn't do well.
They still didn't write the correct answers.
And I was like, "what was the point of all that?"
It's actually kinda funny 😅

We go again today.
I'll give them more time, and see what happens.
That's all about teacher tales.
Hmm 🤔
I like that name.
Maybe I should make it a section in the blog. (Ideas....)

Moving on....
Highlights first.
And then I'll share a poem I came up with....through my ideas and ChatGPT combined.
The poem came out really well if you ask me 😄

365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 On The Value Of Doing Things Yourself

"Know the pleasure of workmanship, the joy that comes from things made well by your own hands, the happiness which comes from closer touch with the
fundamental things of life and the consciousness of being of value to the world."
Quote by Ernest Thompson Seton

"In today’s world, nobody is self-sufficient.
Everybody is doing what they do best and they rely on others to satisfy their other needs and desires.
Division of labor has led to prosperity, but it has also made us lazy: whatever you want, you can buy it and get it almost instantly delivered to your door."

"However, if you develop a habit that whenever you’re facing a problem, you need to call somebody else to fix it, what will happen to your problem-solving skills?
How likely will you be to keep going when problems emerge in your line of work and it will be you who will need to deal with them?"

"Lastly, by avoiding doing things yourself, how many opportunities are you missing out on to learn something new or face a difficult situation head on and solve it yourself?"

"In the end, doing it myself will not only save me money, but also lead to personal growth — and that’s the primary reward of doing things yourself."

Key takeaway: the last quote.
It's not everytime you pay someone to do something for you.
There are lessons to be learned when you do certain things yourself.

That's it for highlights.
Now, let's move on to the poem of the day.
It's titled, "The Gardener's Glass
The theme is basically how our mind shapes our lives.
This poem likens the mind to a garden in a glasshouse.
Enjoy! 😊

The Gardener of Glass

In the quiet of thought, a spark takes flight,
A whisper that shapes both wrong and right.
Success or failure; both intertwined,
Begin their journey within the mind.

A lens so clear, yet sharp as flame,
The mind can frame both joy and blame.
See trials as soil; you rise and bloom,
See them as walls; you dig your tomb.

Your thoughts are seeds; choose what you sow,
Change the script, and let it grow.
From “I can’t” to “Maybe I can try,”
The mind bends gently to your why.

Empowering thoughts ignite the fire,
They lift us up, make us aspire.
Hold the vision, trust its worth,
And thought by thought, you’ll shift your earth.

In this glasshouse built by inner streams,
We bloom or break by what we dream.
Each thought a hand, each day a thread
Be mindful of the path you tread.

I hope you understand the meaning of the poem.
If you don't, it helps to read it out loud.
Then understand by thinking about it.

This is where I draw the curtains for today's post.
