Is It Too Late To Start Over?

It's day 38 of documenting 2025.

"Don't be afraid to start all over again, you may like your new story better".
I just wanted to start with this quote.

I realized that most of the online 'stuff' I've been doing is for the wrong reason.
That's why I always feel this clash between what I'm passionate about and what will pay me.
I've learned so many lessons along the way (and I mean, so many!)
And I'm leaning into what I'm passionate about....which is writing.
"But what kind of writing?" you may ask.
Content Writing.

I'm all about creativity, writing and creating content.
Come to think about it, πŸ€”
Everything is content.
Videos, emails, status updates, tweets, poems and blogs....even podcasts and music.
Content rules the digital space, like a king.
But there's this quote from Gary Vaynerchuck that says,
"Content is king, but marketing is queen and runs the household".

Yesterday, I made a customer persona for my services.
This was an assignment given by a mentor friend of mine who's a brand strategist.
I asked ChatGPT for help.
After telling it to 'give me a customer persona', I told it to ask me relevant questions that would enable it to come up with a persona tailored to my skills.

Oh! I remember!
I asked Deepseek AI first.
You know, the new AI kid on the block.
If you don't know it, do you live under a rock?

So Deepseek came up with a list of questions I had to answer.
I took time to think and type out my answers. Then hit send.
Guess what?
It told me, much to my annoyance,
"The server is busy, please try again later!"
I wasn't too rattled....lots of people are testing out this new AI.
I even saw in a particular article that the company had a data leak...or something like that.
(Do your own research on this....cos I ain't sure of it 🀷)
Anyways, I digressed.

What did I do after Deepseek disappointed?
I simply copied my answers to the questions and went to my reliable ChatGPT.
Then told it to help with a customer persona based on my answers.
It gave me gold πŸͺ™
Then something hit me.
I could be more than just a content writer.
After submitting my assignment, I went back to ChatGPT and asked for what kind of certification a content writer could have.
Most of its suggestions were content marketing certification.

Then I realized that business owners would be more likely to work with a certified content writer.
Without hesitation, I signed up for content marketing certification with Hubspot.
I went through the overview of the course, and was blown away.
Videos, resources and a content marketing workbook I downloaded to work with.
I went through the first section this morning and discovered that everything I've been doing is wrong.
My whole marketing strategy.

There has to be a strong foundation for any business venture in order for it to survive the long term.
This morning, I found out how the big brands start their messaging.
They start with a 'why' before the 'how' and the 'what'.
Since I started online marketing, it has been the other way round, and rarely did I reveal a 'why'.
Well, my 'why' was to make money.
But watching Simon Sinek, a particular phrase stood out,
"Money is just the result".

I believe in doing what I can, with what I have, where I am.
Right now, I feel that selling digital products is not what I can do now.
Besides, it goes beyond selling.
It's also teaching and customer service.
I've tried it for like 9 months now.
Mostly trial and error, but I've learned so much.
But today's lesson alone showed me the greatest error I'm making.

I could correct the error, but I realized that I'm also using the wrong platforms.
Tell me, Ami....
Is it too late to start over?
To scrap it all and start afresh?

Well, that's all for how yesterday went.
In short, I applied for certification.
And I found out that early mornings are best for the lessons I'll be having.
Late nights won't do.... I'll be too tired and will fall asleep while watching the videos.
(I know myself πŸ˜„)

Anyhoo, we'll dive into today's notes.
I read "The 5 Second Rule" by Mel Robbins yesterday.
I actually uploaded it to IIReader and listened to some parts of it.
Here are some of the points I highlighted in the section I read.
(Couldn't find time to take notes down by hand)

πŸ“And that’s where the #5SecondRule comes in; the Rule is how you push yourself when no coach, competitor, parent, screaming fan, or teammate is there to push you.
With the Rule, you just 5 4 3 2 1 to push yourself.
πŸ“There is a window for everyone between the moment you have an instinct to change and your mind killing that instinct.
πŸ“While your mind starts working against you in nanoseconds, the barrage of thoughts and excuses don’t seem to kick into full force and stop you for a few seconds. The five-second window seems to work for everyone.

"That is how the system in your brain works; the longer that you think about something, the lower your urge to act becomes. We are amazing at fooling ourselves into staying exactly where we are.
As soon as that impulse to act kicks in, you start rationalizing it away. That’s why you’ve got to move faster; so you can break free of your excuses before your mind traps you."

These points say a lot.
I talked about resistance yesterday and the five second rule is a way to beat it.
I didn't use it yesterday tho...
Just the pain of leaving the clothes in water for too long was enough to get me to wash them.

So, while I contemplate starting over, I'll keep doing my lessons.
I'll keep posting on social media.
I'll keep writing poetry.
And I'll keep living.

It's almost day 50 of documenting.
(I said almost!)
And if there's one thing I'm learning from all of this, it's being consistent.
On my Whatsapp status, I shared a video by Alex Hormozi where he said,
"You first have to be consistent before you can become exceptional"
If there's anything I can be consistent in, it's writing.
Both by hand and on my device.
I write to-do lists in my notebook every night.
I started this blog to really get into the habit of doing the same thing every single day.
Some days, I don't feel like it.
I would say it at the beginning of the post.
But the post still ends up on a reader's screen.

I checked the analytics yesterday and found out I was close to 90 readers.
Second month? Not bad!
I'll probably throw a party when I get to hundred readers.
(Nope! just kidding πŸ˜‚)
I'll just celebrate a milestone.
50 days is a milestone.
100 days is also a milestone.
One I believe I will reach.
It has gotten to the point that I can't skip a day, ever.
Like my life depends on me writing for this blog every single day.

I think we can stop here today.
I've run out of thoughts to type.
I'll get more to share with you tomorrow.
Thanks for reading, as always 😊

I call it MysticVerses.
