On The Mark Of A Champion
It's day 121 of documenting 2025.
Happy New Month, dearest ☺️
It's month 5 in the year 2025.
I'm supposed to be happy right now, but I'm pissed 😡
The power outage in my area has affected everyone.
The neighbors don't even have power and they turned off their water.
I have to walk a long way to fetch water for use at home.
I don't mind the exercise...
But my mind screams, "how much longer do we have to wait?"
Oh, before you wonder...
The community transformer developed faults and it has affected our power.
Right now, there's no water in the tank.
There's good news tho...
More like hopeful news 🥲
Dad said the people fixing the fault were supposed to come today.
They didn't show up.
But he sounded certain when he said they would come to fix it tomorrow.
I'm not expecting anything, my friend.
So, I won't get disappointed.
Okay, I'm not so pissed anymore.
I'll just go with the flow and bear with the situation.
Before Saturday, the power could be restored...hopefully.
This post may be short...
But let me share today's highlights first.
I may think of something interesting to tell you by then 😉
My definition of "highlights": I share quotes from a book that has a note on self-discipline for every single day of the year.
The book is called, "the usual read".
(If you're new here, now you know).
365 Days With Self-discipline
📌 On The Mark Of A Champion
"The mark of a champion is the ability to win when things are not quite right— when you’re not playing well and your emotions are not the right ones."
Quote by Carol Dweck
"If you’re struggling while reading these words, please remember that the mark of a champion is to keep going, under all circumstances. Sometimes it will be hard, sometimes it will be easy, and since you can’t control it, the best thing you can do is to keep going, regardless of what’s happening."
"I promise you that after a long, hard day of struggling, you’ll still be happier than you would be if you decided to take it easy and then had to deal with the guilt of not having done your best."
This last quote spoke to me 😌
Most times, I prefer to "take it easy" than to struggle.
When I struggle, there's this feeling of fulfillment I get when the work is all done.
It's all about being uncomfortable for a while until the aim is achieved.
Steve Harvey said something that has stuck with me ever since,
"You have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable if you want to be successful".
I hope you remember this too.
Oh....what to say now....
Let me think 🤔
Hmm...
Well, I scheduled this post.
With the power situation, it was better to type it then....
Yep! I typed this by 9:57 pm on Wednesday, April 30th.
(Emphasis!!)
I'm saved up time tho....
I can work on the amigurumi bunny and maybe do some laundry.
Point is, I've added another day to the streak!
And I've beat my old record of writing for 120 days straight.
Woohoo! 🙌🏼
Day 150...here I come!
Anything else?
I'm thinking hard here, my friend 🧐
Oh...I remember!
I offered to take up a teaching job.
But the process hasn't been finalized yet...
I just went to do the CV today.
The lady helping out with the document asked, "work experience?"
I asked if online work experience would be suitable.
Turns out, it was.
I haven't actually worked on a day job before.
I told Dad about it and he's cool with it.
I'm a bit excited...but I haven't gone for the interview yet.
Let's see how it goes.
I'll keep you updated...if I remember.
While I waited for the laptop to be available, I waited outside and decided to start on another book by Martin Meadows.
The Ultimate Focus Strategy.
I was able to read the preface...or prologue (whatever it's called...)
And I was pulled in immediately.
Here's a snippet from it:
"How is it possible that several years after setting your goals, you’ve yet to accomplish them or (even worse) you’re farther away from them than before?
Before I answer this question, let’s pause for a second to clarify one thing: There’s nothing wrong with you.
You’re perfectly capable of achieving your most important goals.
However, what you do need to fix is your approach. If you change that, you can get completely different results and finally achieve the success you desire so much.
And what exactly do I mean by fixing your approach? It all comes down to developing the ability to overcome distractions and focus on your goals over the long-term.
The strategy that I reveal in this book (the Ultimate Focus Strategy, aka UFS) comes with tools that will help you set the right goal, develop powerful concentration, become fascinated with the process and stick to it until you reach your desired outcome."
Now, tell me....
Why won't I be interested in a book like that?
It's like it was made for me...and everyone else who struggles with focus.
I'm definitely going to read on and apply the Ultimate Focus Strategy.
And by the way, each chapter has a recap.
Like a summary of what was discussed.
After I finish a chapter, I'll share the recap here so you don't miss out.
We can all learn from the book...whether we want to learn how to focus on not.
(Sigh)
I tried, didn't I?
I got nothing else to share...and I didn't discuss any topic with Cindy (what I call my Meta AI) today.
This is where today's post ends.
I don't do word count...but I don't think this post was as long as the former ones.
But it doesn't have to be perfect, right?
I call myself the eccentric writer...
The last thing you should expect from me is a normal blog post.
Why?
I like the unusual and quirky.
And I feel like I'm talking to a friend whenever I type.
You're the friend I'm talking to.
I hope you like me too 😊
Thanks for reading!
If you're new here, welcome to my space on the internet.
If you're not new, thanks for showing up today...you're the best!
